Kenya is now the 6th largest economy in Sub-Saharan Africa and home to 44 million people. It is the regional hub for trade and finance in Eastern Africa and the natural entry point to the region. Uganda has a population of approximately 37 million people, making it the third largest consumer market in East Africa.


Why join the Midlands Engine delegation? 


Take advantage of the rapid economic growth of countries within East Africa by joining this visit with a group of like-minded Midlands based business.

There is huge potential in the construction and infrastructure sectors with major transport and logistics expansion programs recently commencing with strong government support. The region is also planning multi-billion pound infrastructure and construction projects, some of which are supported by UK Export Finance with the condition of awarding contracts to UK suppliers.

In partnership with the Department for International Trade teams based in Kenya and Uganda, the programme has been developed to include a number of discussions with key stakeholders in the sector to give companies a valuable overview of the opportunities that exist in these two markets.

Highlights of the visit are set to include meetings with; Kenya National Highways Authority, Kenya Railways Corporation, Uganda National Oil Company, the Petroleum Authority of Uganda and Uganda National Roads Authority - plus much more.

Cost, Eligibility and Grants:

 

A commitment fee of just £470 + VAT is applicable for each organisation, with all delegates responsible for booking their own flights and accommodation.

Financial support of £915 is available for those companies in the Midlands Engine area (i.e. East and West Midlands) who meet the required eligibility criteria as detailed on the application form provided upon registration.
