About the event

WindEnergy Hamburg is an international onshore and offshore wind conference and exhibition held biennially in Hamburg, Germany. It attracted 1,400 exhibitors in 2018, 50% of which were international, and more than 35,000 delegates from 40 countries. 

For the first time, WindEnergy Hamburg will be held between 1 - 4 December 2020 as a digital event. Join the Department for International Trade (DIT), Scottish Development International (SDI), and the Energy Industries Council (EIC) at the UK Virtual Pavilion and engage in our 2020 programme.

January 2021 - End of UK/EU Transition Period Preparation & Guidance

The UK has left the EU and is leaving the EU single market and customs union. The end of the transition period means businesses should take action now to prepare for changes and new rules from January 2021.
The Department for International Trade (DIT) has organised a series of webinars to help UK businesses understand the new trading rules and legislation around mobility of skilled staff, which will come into effect. Specifically for workboat companies, there is information from the UK Workboat Association.

Sector Description

DIT continues to support the growth of the world's largest offshore wind market through investment and export promotion. It is recognised that the industry will make a significant contribution to green recovery. In addition, it will support the levelling-up agenda with business opportunities throughout the country, since supply chain capability is spread across the whole of the UK.
 
As a world leader in offshore wind, the UK has significant strengths to support the development of projects in markets across the globe. The UK has the largest installed offshore wind capacity in the world with 10GW currently operational, and an industry ambition to deliver 40GW by 2030. Another 10GW of offshore wind is due to be installed by the mid-2020s.
 
As a result of this rapid, large-scale deployment, the UK has developed outstanding innovation and expertise in windfarm design, development, installation, and operations and maintenance. This expertise is supported by an ever-increasing supply chain, which offers high quality, cost-competitive components and services.  
 
Ambitions set in the UK Industrial Strategy, Offshore Wind Sector Deal include to increase:
1.    UK content to 60 per cent;
2.    representation of women in the workforce to at least a third;
3.    exports fivefold to £2.6bn, all by 2030.
 
DIT’s global network aims to support businesses play an active role to achieve these ambitions.
