Why Colombia?

Over the last two decades Colombia has developed rapidly and is now the third largest medical device and fourth largest pharmaceutical market in Latin America. Healthcare is established by law as a fundamental right for all Colombian citizens and there is a regulated social security system; it is developments such as these that marked Colombia in 2020 as the 37th and most recent member country of the OECD.

In 2018 total healthcare expenditure as a percentage of GDP was 7.6%; with strong investment in the public sector healthcare system and the country's growing noncommunicable disease burden, demand in this sector continues to grow. Backed by a middle class that has doubled over the last 15 years, the private sector also continues to expand, representing 29% of overall healthcare spend.
