The British Council, in partnership with the British Embassy Thailand, is delighted to invite UK higher education institutions to submit an expression of interest in hosting students funded by the One District One Scholarship (ODOS) Summer Camp Scheme, administered by the Thailand Ministry of Digital Economy and Society.


Background:

The Prime Minister of Thailand has announced that the ODOS Summer Camp programme will support students from approximately 878 districts across Thailand, as well as 50 districts in Bangkok. Of these, 50 scholarships will be allocated to study in the UK. The UK is one of the five countries in Europe and 12 countries worldwide selected to participate in this scholarship scheme in 2025.

The scholarship scheme will be delivered under the concept “Nurturing the Next-Gen Digital Workforce, Experience with Global Tech, Learn from the Global University”. The programme offers students a six-week experience in the UK (and other partner countries), where they will have the opportunity to study at universities and visit global technology companies.

The scholarship aims to develop students’ foundational knowledge in digital technology through university lectures, company visits, and hands-on learning experiences in the following areas.

Programme Objectives

The ODOS programme aims to:
 

  1. Equip the new generation with digital skills, aligning with Thailand’s Digital Skill Roadmap through hands-on and problem-based learning approaches.
  2. Address national challenges and empower the youth to contribute to Thailand’s digital workforce strategy.
  3. Inspire students through the ODOS initiative, fostering enthusiasm for practical digital skills that benefit individuals, families, and society.
  4. Prepare students for digital disruption and the evolving technological landscape.
  5. Develop human capital in the short term, laying a solid foundation for long-term national growth.
  6. Timing and Target Audience.


The six-week programme is expected to take place in October and November 2025. The scholarships are open to students in upper high schools, vocational colleges, and universities (approximate age range: 16–21 years).

UK universities are expected to host up to 50 students, along with a number of adult caretakers for the younger scholarship recipients.

All relevant costs, including tuition fee, accommodation and subsistence for students, will be covered by the Ministry and paid directly to the institution.

The British Council and the British Embassy Thailand will share the information provided with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society in batches as applications are received. The Ministry will be responsible for shortlisting and choosing the programme providers.
