Summit Overview

Space is named as a frontier sector within the Government’s Industrial Strategy, and it is the UK’s ambition to capture a significant share of the projected $1.8 trillion global space economy by creating a thriving space ecosystem and connecting finance with innovation. 

The UK’s space sector serves as a vital engine for economic growth, with the global landscape evolving rapidly amid surging demand for advanced and scaled space capabilities. However, as the sector becomes ever more commercialised and contested, there is a pressing need for a broader suite of financial products and services to enable space companies to continue to expand and innovate. 

Mission 

In the Industrial Strategy, the Government committed to ‘leverage our strengths in financial services, especially in the City of London, to position the UK as a global hub of financial solutions for space companies in the UK and amongst our partners’.  The inaugural Global Space Finance Summit is designed to highlight this ambition, and the policy reforms that will position the UK as the global hub for space finance.  

Its key objectives are to: 

• Signal Ambition and Direction - Send a strong signal globally that the UK Government is committed to positioning the UK as a global hub for space financial solutions.

• Announce Policy Changes - The ongoing work across government departments to unlock financial services for the sector. 

• Align with National Security and Industrial Priorities - Reinforce that finance is critical to a resilient industrial base that serves defence and economic growth. 

• Build Investment Attractiveness - Increase UK attractiveness as a place to invest in space, by leveraging financial solutions for the sector, thus increasing sector-wide growth. 

Summit programme 

The Summit will be hosted by the Minister for Investment at a location in Central London and will bring together senior representatives from across Government, with leading financial services companies and key organisations from the space industry.  The programme will feature policy announcements, keynotes and panel sessions with breakout sessions aimed at facilitating connections and investment opportunities.
