Dear colleagues,
after the successful first Towards New Standard Symposium held in November 2016, we have the pleasure to announce the second edition of the Towards New Standards Symposia, which will focus on the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer.
The outcome for patients with (oligo)metastatic colorectal cancer has significantly improved over the past 10 years. This symposium aims to highlight current multidisciplinary strategies for standardizing the delivery of systemic therapy and the use of ablative techniques.
Improved imaging techniques and the development of prognostic and predictive molecular markers allow for the better selection of patients who could benefit from metastatic surgery.
Along with providing a general framework for decision-making, a more in-depth discussion will highlight current strategies in liver, lung and peritoneal metastatic surgery.
This second ‘Towards New Standards’ Symposium emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary approach, taking into account the characteristics of the tumor but also patient-specific characteristics.
We look forward to welcoming the various stakeholders participating in this second interactive meeting in Leuven.
