UK headquartered lawtech, legal tech, and legal innovation companies who have technology solutions for legal services, are invited to apply to join a UK Government trade mission to the USA, led jointly by the Department for Business and Trade and the GREAT Legal Services Campaign.

The mission will include an exclusive programme of activities including market briefings, business development sessions, pitching and networking events, planned to coincide with industry-leading conferences: New York Legalweek and the ABA TECHSHOW.

You will meet and showcase your services and products to key decision makers in both New York and Chicago’s legal and legal tech ecosystems, including a range of stakeholders such as law firms, business, and industry thought leaders.

There will also be opportunity for you to shape the programme alongside government staff and partners to ensure you get value from each event.

Please contact Ewan Evans and/or Matthew Readett for more details.

Application Details

Apply now to register your interest. Applications close on Sunday 2nd February at 11:59pm GMT

Please note: Completion of the form does not guarantee a place on the delegation. Places are limited and priority will be given to those who have an identified go-to-market strategy for North America.

There is no cost to participate in the mission programme. However, those wishing to attend New York Legalweek and/or Chicago ABA TECHSHOW should source own tickets. The trade mission organisers will consider negotiating for discounted tickets for mission delegates if there is enough interest. All travel expenses including flights and accommodation will be at your own expense.

Why New York and Chicago?

The USA is the UK’s main legal services exports market, and the last few years has seen substantial growth and penetration of the UK legal tech companies into the region. The UK government has run recent trade missions to Texas (2024), New York and Toronto (2024), and Miami (2022), facilitating hundreds of business connections and generating millions of pounds of revenue for legal tech businesses.

New York, as a global financial hub, offers unparalleled opportunities for legal tech firms to engage with leading law firms and corporate legal departments which are increasingly investing in legal tech  solutions to enhance efficiency and client service.

Chicago, a major international city and regional economic centre with a significant legal market, presents a fertile ground for legal tech innovations, particularly in areas such as intellectual property, corporate law, and litigation support.

Why now?

This year is an excellent opportunity to visit both the Big Apple and the Windy City with two of the biggest events in US legal tech happening in consecutive weeks this year.

Our programme will be planned to coincide with these events, taking advantage of this great opportunity but scheduled to give delegates time to attend each conference as well as our activities.
New York Legalweek is a week-long conference where the legal community convenes to decode the future. 6,000 of the biggest names in the industry will explore emerging trends, spotlight the latest tech, and offer a roadmap through the industry's seismic shifts.

The ABA TECHSHOW Conference and EXPO is where lawyers, legal professionals, and technology all come together. For four days, attendees learn about the most useful and practical technologies available. Attendees also get access to the EXPO Hall where legal technology vendors demonstrate their products and services.

Why us?

This is an opportunity to be part of HMG’s flagship international marketing campaign GREAT, offering you the potential to expand your network and grow your global profile with the support of the Department of Business and Trade and the GREAT Legal Services campaign, run by the Ministry of Justice.

The Department of Business and Trade is the UK government department for economic growth. We support businesses to invest, grow and export, creating jobs and opportunities across the country.

GREAT Legal Services promotes the strength and breadth of UK legal services internationally, connecting UK professionals with counterparts across the world, to support the development of mutually beneficial relationships and business partnerships.
