Join the Department for International Trade North East and market entry specialists, Access-2-Healthcare, for a FREE webinar exploring the opportunities and common challenges faced by the UK MedTech sector in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

The session is designed for North East MedTech businesses of all sizes, with varying degrees of export experience, and will highlight key strategies and provide insights into how to navigate the challenges within this vast market.

We will also uncover underlying opportunities through:

•         Separating the commercial from the regulatory responsibilities

•         Due diligence of new partners

•         Critical suppliers’ remote management

About APAC
APAC is home to 7 of the 10 most populous nations, and over 60% of the world’s population. The region is critical to the world’s medical device supply chain, with countries including China, India, Taiwan, and Japan leading the production of raw materials, key components, and manufacturing.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on hospitals. The top three strategic priorities in the region are emergency preparedness, recovering from the financial impact of COVID-19 and improving healthcare worker safety.

In relation to medical devices, the region is a highly regulated market, with over 80% of APAC countries having some degree of regulations, meaning regulatory approvals can be lengthy.

Key APAC market trends include:

  • Better infrastructure and education
  • Digitisation (HIT, EHR, telemedicine)
  • Focus on aged care, diagnostics, robotics
  • Driven by shifting demographics, rising consumer expectations and technological innovations
