Prof. Marco Gambacciani M.D. A. "Overview of Menopause and Current Concepts", "The Use of the Erbium Smooth Laser for Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause and Urinary Incontinence" & "The Effect of Menopause and Hormone Therapy on Cardiovascular Disease", Conference Chairman Dr. Marco Gambacciani, M.D. is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology “Piero Fioretti”, Santa Chiara University Hospital, Pisa, Italy. He graduated in 1978 from the University of Pisa, and finished his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1982. In 1986 he completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology, at the Department of Reproductive Medicine, University of California, San Diego. In 2014 he obtained the Teacher Certification as Full Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Gambacciani has served as Director of the Menopause Research Clinic, at the Santa Chiara University Hospital in Pisa since 1987. Dr. Gambacciani is a member of numerous National and International Professional Societies, and served as a member of the Executive Committee of the International Menopause Society and off the European Menopause and Andropause Society. He has been a guest faculty member, invited speaker, visiting professor and course director worldwide. At present, Dr Gambacciani is the President of the Italian Menopause Society.
Dr. Gambacciani’s clinical and research focus includes various aspects of gynecological endocrinology, contraception, biology of the menopause and perimenopausal years, osteoporosis, and risks and benefits associated with postmenopausal hormone use. He is the author of over 130 papers published in peer reviewed international journals. | |
Prof. Nicoletta Biglia M.D., Ph. D. B. "The Breast in Menopause" & "Gynecologic Oncology", Speaker Nicoletta Biglia MD, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the University of Torino Medical School. She is Director of the Breast Unit and Family cancer Clinic and Deputy Director of the Academic Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Breast diseases at the Mauriziano Umberto I Hospital in Torino. Dr. Biglia graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Turin in 1986 summa cum laude, she specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1990, she was awarded the Ph.D. degree in Gynecological Oncology in 1995 and the European Certificate in Laparoscopic Pelvic Surgery in the year 2000. Her clinical activity has been primarily devoted to the diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast and pelvic cancer, with a special interest in hereditary tumors treatment and prevention. She has developed a special research and clinical interest in the relationship between hormones, oncogenes, and breast cancer risk, as well as in innovative surgical techniques both in pelvic and breast oncology aimed at reducing the impact of cancer and cancer-related treatments on the quality of life of survivors. She has a more than 20 years long experience in radical pelvic surgery, in oncoplastic breast cancer surgery, and has refined her skills through several residencies and visits in Reference Institutions in Europe and USA. Dr. Biglia has promoted and participated in a large number of international clinical trials in the fields of Gynecological Oncology, Menopause and Breast Cancer. She is a member of National and International Scientific Societies: European Society of Gynecological Oncology (ESGO), International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS), European Society of Mastology (EUSOMA), Italian Society of Gynecological Oncology (SIOG), Italian Breast Network (Senonetwork). She has served on the Board of the Italian Society of Menopause (SIM) for three terms and from 2005 is in the Board of the Italian Society of Gynecological Oncology (SIOG). She has authored 150 papers on International Journals and participated as invited speaker in National and International Conferences, Congresses, and Courses. | |

Dr. Aslani, received her Diploma in Radiation Oncology in 1996, in Tehran, Iran, ranking at the top on nationwide specialty exam. Dr. Aslani joined McGill University, Montreal, Canada in 2002 where she completed her residency in Radiation Oncology. She became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) in 2007 and obtained American Board Radiology in 2008. Dr. Jasmina Kozarev M.D., Ph.D. D. "Lifestyle Modification in Menopause", Head of the Scientific Committee Professor Nabil Sulaiman is the Head of Department of Family and Community Medicine and Behavioural Sciences and Director of Sharjah Clinical and Surgical Training Centre, the University of Sharjah, a senior research fellow at the Baker/ International Heart and Diabetes Research Institute, Melbourne and ex-senior Fellow at the Department of General Practice, The University of Melbourne, Australia.
Nabil has worked with distinction in several universities including Australia, the UK, Yemen and Iraq as well as Sharjah, winning several research and education awards. He is the principal investigator of several qualitative and quantitative diabetes and asthma research projects in Sharjah, UAE and Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Taher Khalil M.D., FACE G. "Premature Menopause and POF", Speaker Dr Khalil is a fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE) and is a practicing physician in hormonal disorders since 1973. He graduated from University of Alexandria in 1969 and completed his research in collaboration with U.S. Office of Naval Research for doctorate thesis on Disorders of Growth and Sexual Development in 1979. His further research career entailed 18 major publications in international scientific journals and medical conferences. His contributions focused on medical conditions relevant to Gulf region and Arabian countries such as hormonal causes of excessive hairiness in women, fertility issues and menstrual disorders. In 1997, Dr Khalil pioneered combining laser hair removal with hormonal treatments in the management of women with excessive hairiness. He opened and directed several Aesthetic Care Centers for this particular indications in Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Abu Dhabi and in Muscat. This was a starting point into a novel field in fusion of hormonal treatments with laser therapy. This was most beneficial with amazing results in improving skin affected by hormonal disorders, such as acnes, acne scars, wrinkles and pigments. This has eventually led to the development of advanced protocols for anti-aging management.
Apart from his own clinic in Dubai, and partnering to establish Laser aesthetic centers in UAE and Oman, Dr Khalil established and directed several advanced medical and educational institutions, including the Endocrinology and Reproductive Medicine Department of the Ministry of Health in Kuwait (1979-1990) and in Jeddah (1990 -1995), The first test tube Baby Unit in Kuwait and Gulf region in 1984), and lately partnered with the University of Sharjah (2010 till present) to establish and direct the Sharjah University Laser Training and Research Center (SULTARC). | |
Prof. Ahmed El-Serafi M.D. H. "Osteoporosis Imaging", Speaker Graduated from Ain Shams University in 1982 and joined the Radiology Department at its hospital where he worked till 1994 receiving Radiology Master of Science Degree (MScR) in 1986 and Radiology Doctorate Degree (PhD) in 1990. Post-graduate training included extended periods of time spent in the mid 1980s at the Radiology Departments of Cardiff University Hospital and Neville Hall Hospital, both in Wales, UK. In 1994 accepted post of Lecturer of Radiology at Suez Canal University and was promoted to Associate Professor in 1999 and full Professor in 2004. Member of the Egyptian Radiological Society since 1987, the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) since 1994 and the Emirates Radiological Society (ERS) since 2008. He is a Board Member and Chairman of the Scientific Committee of Emirates Osteoporosis Society since 2013. He has varied interests within the field of Radiology, with Computed Tomography, Ultrasonography and Imaging Informatics topping of the list of interests – Numerous published articles, thesis supervisions and thesis reviews reflect these interests. He currently holds the posts of Professor of Radiology at Suez Canal University (Egypt) and CEO of International Radiology Centers (UAE). | |

Dr. Anna Sepiolo M.D., Ph.D. J. Workshop Facilitator Dr Anna Sepiolo is an experienced obstetrician and gynaecologist. She has worked at some of Europe’s most prestigious hospitals and clinics, including Kings College Hospital in London. She is a board certified member of the American Academy of Anti- Ageing and Regenerative Medicine, has a Fellowship in Metabolic and Nutritional Medicine and is a registered specialist with the General Medical Council (GMC) of the United Kingdom. During her career Dr Sepiolo has focused on integrative approach to gynaecological disorders, preconception advice combined with prenatal, postpartum and antenatal care. She is especially interested in the treatment of menstrual disorders, hormonal imbalances and menopause. In response to the growing demand from patients for longevity and healthy ageing, she has focused her practice on the early detection, prevention and treatment of age related conditions (menopause, osteoporosis, nutritional deficiencies). She performs screening for malignancy using ultrasound, colposcopy, biopsy and hysteroscopy. She carries out day surgery procedures such as cryotherapy, hysteroscopy and LLETZ. In 2009 Dr Sepiolo furthered her expertise at the Foetal Medicine Foundation and Harris Birthright Centre at London’s Kings College Hospital, a leading clinical unit and research centre for the assessment and treatment of fetal abnormalities. More recently, Dr Anna achieved great results in treatment of vaginal relaxation syndrome and stress urinary incontinence via non-surgical laser therapy.
