Education quality assurance review

Build your ideal medical education and training dashboard at this hands-on workshop. Learn what information is available to you about the organisations training the doctors of today and tomorrow, and have your say on how it’s presented to you in the future.

Differential attainment, building fair training pathways

How can you help black and minority ethnic (BME) and overseas doctors overcome disadvantages in medical education and training? Find out what the GMC and others are doing to explore and address differential attainment at this workshop.

Speaking up, speaking out

In this session we'll be sharing advice, knowledge and experience to practical strategies for speaking up and listening well. Leave this session feeling empowered to speak up, be heard and create a learning culture across all areas of healthcare.

Medical Licensing Assessment - assessing professionalism

How should the Medical Licensing Assessment assess the professionalism of new doctors? Find out about our work to develop and share high quality clinical scenarios that address challenging areas of practice. And share your expectations and experience in this area.

Patient feedback for revalidation

Explore our proposals to revise the patient feedback requirements for revalidation and share your ideas on how to make the process work better for doctors and their patients. This is a real chance to help shape the future of patient feedback.

Supporting leaders to keep patients safe

Researcher and author of Moral Leadership in Medicine Dr Suzanne Shale shares key findings from her research for us into what it’s really like to be a senior medical leader. And you’ll have the chance to tell us how we can help those in leadership positions meet the challenges of their important roles.

Emerging concerns protocol

The Emerging Concerns Protocol (ECP) - signed by nine regulatory bodies earlier this year - is a new framework that helps regulators share patient safety concerns early and proactively, and supports them to collaborate to safeguard patients and the profession from harm. At this workshop, you’ll explore a real-life scenario and discuss how regulators can and should respond to such emerging concerns.

Culture change and mitigating the risk of unprofessional behaviours in the NHS

Unprofessional behaviours, including bullying and undermining, can impact patient care and staff morale. In this session, you’ll experience part of our new training programme to help doctors tackle these behaviours in the workplace and learn about our guidance on early interventions.

Health and disability in medical education

Hear speakers from across the world, including Harvard Medical School, Doctors with Disabilities Australia, and the UK Disabled Doctors Network, talk about what it’s like to be a medical student or doctor with a long-term health condition or disability. And learn more about our work on supporting medics with health needs, including the key takeaways from our updated guidance for educators, Welcome and valued.

Enhancing medical student professionalism

Test your professionalism in this student-designed and led workshop. This is one of the shortlisted sessions from last year’s student professionalism competition, which is run with the Medical Schools Council.

Human factors

How could human factors improve safety in healthcare? How can human factors support a just culture that encourages learning? Discuss this and more with leading experts from both the world of healthcare and other fields of work.
