Gabriele Bislenghi, MD (UZ Leuven, Belgium)
Bislenghi Gabriele graduated as MD at the Università degli Studi of Milan, Italy in 2009. He became surgeon in 2015 and joined the staff of Abdominal Surgery at the University Clinic Leuven in 2019 after a two-years fellowship in colorectal surgery. He received an international postgraduate training in colorectal surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. He is board-member of the IBD section of the Società Italiana di Chirurgia Colorettale (SICCR) and young-member of the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) and the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (S-ECCO).

Joris Dutré, MD (ZNA Jan Palfijn, Antwerpen)
Dr J Dutre holds an MD degree from the university ofGhent . Hereceived part of his training at theCHUNantes byProf Galmichewhere hewas trained in motility.After his training he started working as a gastroenterologist at theJan PalfijnHospitalMerksem part ofZNA (ziekenhuis network antwerpen)Hisspecial interests are endoscopyandIBD .He’s member ofBIRDandECCOand activelyinvolved inphase II andphaseIII trialsstudysforIBD.

Sofie Himpe (AZ Groeninge, Kortrijk, Belgium)
Sofie Himpe started in 2008 as a parttime study nurse gastro-enterology ( IBD, oncology and hepato ) and parttime as a nurse in the one day care in AZ Groeninge. Before that, she was working 11 years as nurse and head nurse in a home for elderly.
Since the start she had a big interest in IBD. 5 years ago she started then full time as studynurse IBD and IBD nurse.

Annelore Leplae (AZ Sint-Lucas, Brugge, Belgium)
Since July 2019 I am half-time IBD and study nurse. Before that I worked in a department of cardiology-nephrology. I have a great interest in IBD and notice that science around research does not stand still.

Noortje Straetemans (AZ Vesalius, Tongeren, Belgium)
Noortje Straetemans obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 2010, with specialization in social nursing. Her interest has allways been in guiding and supporting of patients with a chronic illness, which supported her choice for a function as IBD nurse. In january 2019 she started as an IBD nurse in AZ Vesalius Tongeren. Since then Noortje Straetemans has tried to educate herself in the pathology, treatment and education of patients by becoming a member of the BinaStoria, going to conferences, reading books etc. This has only contributed to her interest in the pathology and patient-centered care.

Séverine Vermeire, MD, PhD (UZ Leuven, Belgium)
Séverine Vermeire obtained her MD degree at the KU Leuven in 1995 and a PhD at the same University in 2001. She trained at the Universidad Nacional de Asuncion, Paraguay, at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics , University of Oxford UK and at the Montreal General Hospital, McGill University Canada. Since 2003 she is staff member at the Gastroenterology Department of the UZ Leuven and is appointed Professor of Medicine at the KU Leuven. Since 2016 she is Head of the Department of Chronic Diseases & Metabolism at KUL. Dr Vermeire is actively involved as principle investigator in RCTs with new therapeutic compounds and has been lead investigator on several of these programs. Her scientific work resulted in more than 600 peer-reviewed articles and focusses on the role of the microbiome and genetic susceptibility in IBD and on identifying predictive signatures of outcome and treatment response. She was awarded an Advanced ERC Grant from the EU in 2016. Dr Vermeire is Past-President of the Belgian IBD Research & Development (BIRD) Group and of the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (ECCO).

Patsy Vlieghe (AZ Sint-Lucas, Brugge, Belgium)

Since 10/2014: Study nurse for gastro-intestinal studies and IBD nurse
