Investment opportunities for underrepresented founders
Inclusion in VC funding is abysmal. Women receive only 3% of all venture capital, and less than 1% goes to Black founders. Worse, these effects compound: Black female founders receive only 0.0006%. Data on disabled founders is nowhere to be seen.
In line with these issues, the VC Matchmaking initiative will look to address inclusion in the next two masterclasses which will be extended to include short networking opportunities.
The first of our inclusion sessions will look to address the lack of investment opportunities for underrepresented founders. We are delighted to welcome Demi Ariyo of Ledoe, providing insights into the different options available to founders and the ideal time to raise.
The conversation will then move to how founders can avoid disappointment and the best options to grow and fund their business may not be through funding alone. This session will be a fireside chat with DITs Elias Suliman.
The aim of the Venture Capital Matchmaking initiative is to facilitate more connections between the best young European companies, those seeking the capital needed to internationalise their businesses, and the rich network of funders across the UK.
