About SARA and conference Program

 

 

Formed in 1996, the association aims to improve the operational efficiency of the 15 railways in the Southern African Development Community.

Besides promoting and lobbying for rail transport, SARA aims to promote interconnectivity and cross border operability of railways for a regional and continental rail network connectivity in Southern Africa. Besides railway operating companies, it has welcomed other stakeholders of the railway industry, like suppliers of railway technology and some important customers.

 

Theme for 2023:

'Enhancing Railway Capacity and Quality of Services through Innovative Operating Models and Partnerships to Foster Seamless Regional Integration and Trade'.
