The Midlands Business & Professional Services Global Trade Mixer Events from the Department for Business & Trade (DBT) will help to facilitate networking opportunities and build your knowledge and best practice in selling your services internationally.
According to the latest available data from the ONS, across their domestic and international activities, financial and related professional services contributed £243.7bn to UK real (inflation-adjusted) gross value added (GVA) in 2023, representing around £12 of every £100 of economic output. Financial and related professional services is among the UK’s largest industries as measured by GVA.3 Compared with 2022, financial and related professional services GVA decreased by 0.6% in real terms. However exports of services have increased in real terms over the same period, and DBT are keen to encouage and support further increases.
Financial services sector productivity is almost 2.5 times as high as whole-economy productivity in terms of nominal output per hour. Output per hour for the financial services sector was £97.3 in 2022, compared with whole-economy productivity of £40.5. On this metric, the sector ranks second, behind Real Estate (£297); and ahead of Electricity and Gas (£90.1), Water Supply (£74.6), and IT (£51.1).
