12th Africa Regional Conference

 Travel to Rwanda

The closest international airport is Kigali international airport. International flights are regular and there is a very convenient travel time to the conference venue at the Golden Tulip Hotel of just under an hour.
Please note that participants will be expected to arrange their own travel bookings to Rwanda.  

Transport from the Airport 

The conference hotel is located in Nyamata and is only a short transfer away. Your airport transfer is included in your accommodation booking at the Golden Tulip Hotel, you will be met on arrival at the airport and transferred to the Golden Tulip hotel.

Please note that no other airport transfer is provided. If you will be staying at a different hotel before, during or after the conference, please arrange your own transfer to the conference venue. 

In order to assist us, please wear the uniform or a Girl Guide/Girl Scout scarf for easy identification upon your arrival at the airport.

Visa Information

A visa may be necessary to enter Rwanda. If you require a visa to enter Rwanda, please specify during registration, so we can provide you with the visa invitation letter.

As of 01 January 2018, nationals of all countries receive a visa on arrival at Kigali International Airport and all land borders. Please ensure you are able to pay for the the visas on arrival with cash.

Costs

A single entry tourist visa costs US $30 (exclusions apply for selective countries) and is valid for 30 days.

A single entry conference visa costs US $30 and is valid for 30 days.

A multiple entry business visa costs US $50 and is valid for one year.

The East African Tourist Visa (EATV) covers Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda, costs US $100 and is valid for 90 days.

Applicants should have a valid passport or another acceptable travel document. The document must have a validity of at least six months on the day of entry into Rwanda.

Visas can be applied for before departure, by submitting an application online, accessed at https://irembo.gov.rw/rolportal/web/dgie/conference-visa with the option to pay online or upon arrival.

 

Vaccines

Certificate requirements may be relevant to certain travellers only.

Vaccines recommended for most travellers are:

  • Hepatitis A
  • Tetanus
  • Typhoid

Vaccines recommended for some travellers are:

  • Cholera
  • Hepatitis B
  • Meningococcal Disease
  • Rabies
  • Tuberculosis (TB)
  • Yellow Fever

There is a high risk of Malaria in Rwanda, recommended antimalarials are:

  • Atovaquone/Proguanil
  • Doxycycline
  • Mefloquine

Insurance 

There will be a standby medical team at Golden Tulip Hotel to assist the conference delegates requiring their services. Nyamata Hospital will also be ready to welcome any participant in need of health assistance. It is the responsibility of the individual to ensure that they have adequate and appropriate insurance to cover: personal property, travel disruption, injury, medical expenses, general liability and life cover for the period of travel to, travel from and during the stay at the 12th Africa Regional Conference. As an organisation, WAGGGS holds public/general liability insurance coverage that is reviewed regularly. Neither AGR nor WAGGGS can take responsibility for any medical, accident or personal property claims by Conference participants (other than those that may fall under public liability). WAGGGS will also not be liable for travel costs in the event of cancellation of the event for any reason.
