DBT Midlands is excited to announce the CERN Meet the Buyer Roadshow will be visiting Birmingham this September.

CERN, the European Organisation for Particle Physics Research, is one of the world’s largest and most respected centres for scientific research. This is your chance to meet research and procurement stakeholders, gain a greater understanding of the organisation and explore the variety of tender opportunities available.

What to expect:

Alongside CERN, you will hear from representatives from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and DBT who support and promote UK industry in CERN.

During the morning there will be a series of short presentations providing an overview of CERN’s purchasing approach, as well as the support they provide to potential suppliers. A local business that is already supplying to CERN will also share their first-hand experiences of the application process. After lunch, there will be an opportunity for informal, one-to-one meetings with members of the CERN team and the supporting STFC and DBT teams.

Who should attend?

The event would be of particular interest if you focus on any of themes listed below:

  • Power suppliers
  • Cables
  • Batteries
  • PCB Manufacturers
  • Magnetc
  • Electronic manufacturers
  • Space Solutions (upstream)
  • Photonic Companies

A more comprehensive list of what CERN procure can be found here.

For future reference:

To gain an insight into the types of contracts available, any opportunities expected to cost more than 200K CHF are pre-advertised on CERN’s ‘Forthcoming Opportunities’ webpage here.
