School Exclusions Rising

I would agree with that for most of the children most of the time. But for an autistic child, when they are completely overwhelmed, they have very little choice over their actions.

Sadly, we see a spike in school exclusions at this time of year. 

Exclusions are typically a result of additional needs that aren’t being met, and the consequence can be behaviour that challenges. 

Our ‘Exclusions’ resources offer practical ways settings can reduce the likelihood of exclusions, and support inclusive practice at the same time.

Whole School SEND (WSS) launches NEW bite-sized online modules

Five brand new SEND CPD units are now available from our WSS partners at nasen, exploring SEMH, Sensory Processing and Physical Needs. 

These modules are: 

  • FREE to access 

  • Take just 20 minutes to complete 

  • Provide information and skills to understand individual learners' characteristics and context 

  • Offer guidance on adaptations to teaching across the age range with the aim of meeting the needs of all learners.

Developing Inclusive Practice

A New, Free Autism Support Programme for Families & Carers

As experts in autism education, we were delighted to have been chosen to work alongside NHS England and other autism partners to help create this new, free autism support programme for families and carers in England.

Lisa Myers, Programme Director of Autism Central, said:
