The Department for International Trade supports investment into sectors, capital projects, start-ups and scale-ups that deliver clean growth and reduce our carbon dependence.
As part of this campaign of activity, the Department for International Trade is seeking to identify the most high-value, strategically important and innovative green investment opportunities from across the UK.
As such, we are issuing a call for projects to surface sustainable Foreign Direct Investment Opportunities; looking for compelling pitches to attract corporates to set up in the UK.
DIT will conduct a review of opportunities submitted during this call for projects, with the direct goal of identifying exciting, world-leading sustainability opportunities.
DIT will provide strong support to the opportunities taken forward, including adding these to the portfolio of opportunities we already proactively promote to our investors and providing marketing collateral to support engagement with some of the world’s largest corporates and institutional investors.
In order for an FDI opportunity to be eligible for inclusion, evidence of the following characteristics will need to be shown:
Which sub-sector or technology area would you classify your opportunity as falling into?
E.g. Offshore Wind Turbine Manufacturing
What is the nature and scale of the specific commercial opportunity, and why should it interest a company?
E.g. Is this opportunity: a supply chain or capacity gap?; an opportunity to diversify or commercialise new or disruptive technologies?; an emerging, high growth subsector?; a chance to bring applications for new products in new sectors?
Has an economic assessment or other analysis been conducted to estimate the size/scale of the opportunity available to investors? Can further details be provided?
What relevant sectoral strengths and local assets make the proposed location attractive to international investors?
Briefly describe the sectoral strengths the area has to offer. A common priority for investors is securing the right skills. For many industries, access to R&D capability is crucial. E.g.. How is the proposed opportunity supportive of HMG's domestic and international climate aims?
What is the rationale for promoting this opportunity?
Why does this opportunity need promotion? Why might overseas investors not be fully informed of the opportunities for their company in this sector/location?
