This form is to register volunteers willing to share their experience of cancer genomic testing.
What is the purpose of sharing your experience?
The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) is looking to speak with people affected by cancer, or their families, who are willing to share their experience of genomic testing in England (this is testing that looks at which genes might be involved in the cancer developing) at diagnosis, treatment, or for access to clinical trials.
The ABPI is working on a report to show how genomic testing can support people with cancer and rare diseases. The report will be made public and shared with Government and the NHS in England to help make the case for the continuous improvement of the service for patients – giving them better access to medicines and clinical trials.
To make sure the report reflects real patient experiences, the ABPI wants to include a small number of patient case studies that describe some patients' experiences of genomic testing at diagnosis or as part of treatment and the impact it can have on their lives.
What’s involved
The ABPI is looking for around 4 people to take part. You must be 18 or over.
Complete an online Expression of Interest form to volunteer by Monday 15 December. The ABPI will contact you to let you know if you have been selected by Friday 9 January 2026.
A one hour interview with an independent interviewer (Realise Advocacy) working with the ABPI will take place in January 2026 to hear your story. This will be online via Zoom.
Your story will be written up and may be included in the ABPI report or public communications.
There will be a follow-up email for you to confirm the accuracy of the write-up.
You will be supported throughout the process, and your voice will help make a difference.
The ABPI will pay a £150 honorarium to thank you for your contribution if you are selected for interview.
If you are interested in taking part in sharing your story on genomic testing in cancer in England, please complete the form below by Monday 15 December.
The ABPI will contact you by 9 January 2026 to let you know whether you have been selected to be interviewed or not – this decision will be based on making sure a range of different stories are included. If you have been selected your contact details will be provided to an independent interviewer from Realise Advocacy (a company who specialise in patient advocacy) who will do the interview with you and write it up, on behalf of the ABPI.
Your contact details will be stored securely by the ABPI for the duration of the project and for 12 months after the report is published.
To begin, please insert your preferred contact email address in the field below and select continue.
