Jakob Blomer is a computer scientist in the scientific software group at CERN in Geneva. He is the author of the CernVM File System—a global, HTTP based file system optimized for software distribution—and the CernVM virtual appliance that is used to run LHC applications in the cloud. Blomer received a PhD in computer science from the Technical University of Munich in 2012 and he was a visiting scholar at John Ousterhout’s group at Stanford University in 2014.
