Dr Sabine Haag holds a number of high profile roles within the heritage and art history world, including her current position as President of the Austrian Commission for UNESCO (the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation). She is also Director General of the KHM-Museumsverband (Kunsthistorisches Museum, Weltmuseum Wien and Theater Museum) in Vienna. Prior to that, Dr Haag served for many years as the Director of the Kunstkammer and the Secular & Ecclesiastical Treasury of the Kunsthistorisches Museum. She also sits on a number of boards and committees, including the scientific advisory council of the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte (Central Institute for Art History) in Munich, the executive board of the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, Nuremberg, and the cultural executive board of the annual summer Bregenz Festival.

Dr Haag is also the author of countless papers, publications and lectures on baroque ivory, wax, amber and wood sculpture and the history of collecting and has collaborated on numerous research projects.
