Paul Thwaite leads the Commercial Banking business areas across RBS, supporting customers from start-ups to multi-nationals across three main customer-facing brands, NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland and Ulster Bank, alongside a number of specialist brands, such as Esme Loans. During his time at the bank, Paul has undertaken roles across Wholesale, International, Corporate and Retail Banking. He joined Commercial & Private Banking (CPB) in 2015 as a Managing Director. 
 
Prior to leading Commercial Banking, Paul was responsible a number of the bank’s franchises, including Business Banking, which support over 900,000 customers, and product businesses such as Lombard and RBS Invoice Finance. He also led the bank’s Entrepreneurship strategy where over 11,0000 entrepreneurs have been supported in the past year, and the development of innovative propositions such as Tyl, Rapid Cash and APtimise.
 
Outside of the bank, Paul is a Non-Executive Director on Motability plc, a member of the Whitehall Industry Group and various Financial Institutions and Industry advisory boards.
