Emma Wade-Smith OBE

Emma Wade-Smith is His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for North America and HM Consul General New York.

 

Emma has a distinguished career as a British Diplomat spanning more than two decades, with postings to Mexico, Chile, and Washington, DC as well as secondments to the United Nations in New York; the European Commission in Brussels; and the UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills where she worked on international trade. Prior to her appointment as Trade Commissioner for North America, Emma spent nearly 6 years leading the UK government’s pan-African regional trade and investment team, as Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Africa. Emma is based in New York.

Kunal Khatri

Kunal Khatri is the UK’s Deputy HM Trade Commissioner for North America.

 

As Deputy Trade Commissioner, Kunal fosters trade and investment opportunities across all economic sectors by helping UK firms export to North America and by encouraging Canadian and US firms to invest into UK. Prior to this, he spent five years at the British Embassy Beijing as the UK’s Minister-Counsellor & Director for Financial and Professional Services, and seven years at HM Treasury on financial services, international economics and as Ministerial speechwriter. Kunal has also worked at the World Bank, United Nations and The Economist Newspaper. Kunal is based in New York.

Frances Moffett-Kouadio FICE

Director of Exports, North America UK's Department for International Trade (DIT)

 

Frances joined DTI (now BEIS) as a fast-streamer in 2001, following a successful teaching career. At DTI she led on an EU Directive, wrote the Departments first Equality Impact Assessment and worked on the Business Support transformation programme, before joining UK Trade & Investment in 2004. Frances has a range of experience in different markets, including Iraq, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa and was the Director of Trade & Investment at the British Embassy Abu Dhabi for five years, before moving to Hong Kong, where she was Director of Trade & Investment for six years. She is now Director Exports North America, based in Chicago.

Emily Addison

DIT Director of Trade and Investment Canada

 

As the Director of Trade and Investment Promotion, Canada for the UK’s Department for International Trade, Emily is based in Toronto and leads a cross-Canada team that promotes the UK to Canadian companies looking to expand globally and works with UK exporters to enter the Canadian market. Before joining DIT in April 2021, Emily held several roles in the Ontario Government including as Deputy Director of Policy for the Premier of Ontario. Emily holds an MSc from Royal Holloway, University of London, and a bachelor's degree from the University of Western Ontario.

Fiona Macleod

DIT Regional Director of Trade and Investment, New York

 

Fiona has over 20 years of experience in international economic development and leads the British Government’s commercial interests in NY, NJ, CT and PA overseeing a team of 25+ trade & investment professionals. In her role, she seeks to deepen the trading relationship between the UK and US and focuses on building strategic partnerships, and identifying opportunities for state and city level partnerships.

Her team provide guidance and support to UK exporters, remove market access barriers and advise US companies looking to establish or grow their operations in the UK. Priority industry sectors include:- financial & professional services; capital investment; technology; creative, media & sport; future mobility; security; infrastructure; clean energy; life sciences, food & drink and aid funded business.

Fiona is co-founder and chairs the steering committee for the GREAT British Business Club (250+members); acts in an advisory capacity to the NY Chapter of British American Business is also a board member of the British American Business Council of Greater Philadelphia.

Kirsten Chambers-Taylor

Regional Director, The British Consulate - New England

 

Kirsten leads the British Consulate's commercial engagement across the six states of New England, engaging state administrations, connecting UK and US companies with collaboration opportunities and facilitating thought leadership conversations to advance trade initiatives. With the Consulate since 2000, Kirsten provides connectivity for transatlantic businesses with DIT expertise and industry players on both sides of The Pond with the aim of boosting exports to the US and increasing R&D and FDI into the UK. A native of New Zealand, Kirsten has worked in the UK, France and the US for the past 30 years.
