Coordinating the German State and Market: Policies and Strategies to Reach 80% Renewables by 2030

The Aurora Renewables Summit Berlin 2023 takes place this year on 11 May! In the wake of the recent energy crisis, industry leaders will convene to foster thought-provoking debates on policies and strategies necessary for achieving 80% renewables by 2030. This event will examine the role of coordination between state and market mechanisms to incentivise innovation, efficiency, and productivity for the German renewables market. 

In response to the disruptions in the energy markets over the past year, there has been a surge in the adoption of policy interventions designed to mitigate the direct effects of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This has generated a heightened degree of uncertainty among market participants when it comes to determining the most effective market instruments to deploy under unpredictable conditions.

In pursuit of the dual objectives of securing European energy security and achieving climate neutrality, the Aurora Renewables Summit Berlin will bring together stakeholders, industrial consumers and financial players from across the energy industry to discuss the growing importance of flexibility assets and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) in the German energy market. The Aurora Renewables Summit Berlin will also discuss the future incentivisation of renewables buildout between the current market premium scheme, Contracts for Difference (CfDs), and the potential addition of industry price pools, and how these could be used in conjunction with PPAs.
