Venue: Edsa Shangri-La, 1 Garden Way, Ortigas Centre, Mandaluyong City 1550 Philippines

Join us for a one-day symposium  jointly organized by OMICRON and Tan Delta Electric Corporation for diagnostic measurements and online monitoring on rotating electrical machines in Manila.

Rotating electrical machines, such as generators and motors, are important components in power generation and industrial applications. Machine reliability and availability are therefore in high demand. Premature failure may lead to significant economic losses, due to unexpected outages that can be further complicated through non-availability of spare parts in the short term. Catastrophic failures of rotating machines further pose safety risk for operators and can lead to damage of the surrounding environment. In order to mitigate this risk, it is important to have reliable and accurate condition information, allowing to plan maintenance action effectively and economically.

During this one day symposium we will give an overview about state-of-the-art testing and online-monitoring methods on rotating electrical machines that are characterized through high sensitivity and the capability to detect various faults. In order to facilitate the participants’ understanding on how these methods can be applied and how the gained results are interpreted, a series of case studies will be discussed. After this event, the participants will have a better understanding of the common electrical defects in rotating machines and the methods for detecting them reliably and in time.

This symposium will cover important topics related to:

  • Introduction to rotating machines
  • Introduction to diagnostic measurements on rotating machines - offline and online
  • Capacitance and tan delta measurements on rotating machines
  • Partial discharge measurements on rotating machines - offline and online
  • Stator core imperfection testing
  • Case Studies and Q&A

This is a free event! Register now to secure your spot.

Agenda

Topic

Introduction to rotating machines

  • This session will provide an introduction to rotating electrical machines and in particular to the insulation system

Introduction to diagnostic measurements on rotating machines (overview)

This session will provide an overview of common diagnostic measurements on
rotating machines such as:

  • DC winding resistance
  • DC insulation resistance and DFR (dielectric frequency response)
  • SFRA (sweep frequency response analysis)
  • Pole drop test (also known as pole impedance test
  • Capacitance and tan delta measurements
  • Partial discharge measurements (both offline and online)
  • Stator core imperfection testing
Morning Break
Capacitance and tan delta measurements on rotating machines
  • This session will go deeper into the topic of capacitance and tan delta measurements where we discuss the measurement theory and go through case studies from on-site measurements.
Case Studies
Lunch Break

Partial discharge measurements on rotating machines (offline and online)

  • In this session we discuss the theory on partial discharge measurement and discuss the benefits of offline and online measurements and monitoring/trending. We will also discuss case studies from offline measurements and online PD monitoring installations

Case Studies

Afternoon Break
Stator core imperfection testing
  • This session will discuss the stator imperfection measurement via a stray flux measurement. We will also discuss case studies from on-site measurements.
