Evening after final lecture (at conference venue): Free (registration needed)
Keynote speaker Dr. Anna-Katharine Mansfield from Cornell University will be leading delegates through a tasting from UK wine producers to compare the visual and gustatory characteristics of a V. vinifera-based red wine and a hybrid red wine.
Wednesday 18 September, Conference Dinner (19:00 - 23:00)
Bibbi's Italianissmo £70 per person
Join us for the celebratory conference dinner at Bibi’s Italianissmo, an iconic restaurant situated in the heart of Leeds City Centre with art deco inspired décor reminiscent of the 1920s. Cost covers a welcome drink, three-course menu, and a half-bottle of wine. Menu options will be supplied in due course to suit all dietary requirements.
Friday 20 September, Tour of Yorkshire (09:00 - 16:30)
(NUMBERS LIMITED) £80 per person
Following the final day of formal conference presentations, delegates can join us on a tour of Yorkshire to experience local wine, food, cultural heritage and spectacular scenery. The tour visits The Howardian Hills, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in recognition of its national landscape importance. The captivating area includes well-wooded rolling countryside, patchwork of arable and pasture fields, scenic villages and historic country houses with classic designed parklands. The cost includes return travel from the University of Leeds, a wine tour & tasting, lunch, and entry to Castle Howard.
09.00: Coach travel from University of Leeds to North Yorkshire.
10.00: Arrival at Ryedale Vineyards for a wine tour where we will visit the vineyards and the winery, and finish with tastings of wines and ciders with nibbles and local cheeses.
12.30: Travel from Ryedale Vineyards to lunch venue.
12.45: Arrival at Thompsons Famous Fish & Chips for lunch. Experience authentic fish & chips cooked in the traditional way – if you’ve not had Yorkshire fish & chips, you’ve not experience real fish & chips! (Non-fish and vegetarian options are available).
13.45: Travel from lunch to Castle Howard.
14.00: Arrival at Castle Howard, one of the finest stately homes in England, home to the Howard family for more than 300 years. Visit the house to see iconic architecture and beautiful interiors. Explore the gardens and grounds to see lakes, follies, woodland, temples, and statues.
16.30: Return travel from Castle Howard to University of Leeds.
