Interfacing gPROMS with Python
|
Learn about the available mechanisms to connect gPROMS and Python together. Explore the different use cases to understand why you would want to utilize this capability and the benefits of doing so. Get hands on experience to practice calling gPROMS simulations from the Python environment and the inverse operation of calling Python methods from within gPROMS. |
Global System Analysis (GSA) and surrogate model generation. |
The session will give you hands on experience to build and execute a Global System Analysis and then highlight how we can utilize the output with two different platform functionalities. Firstly, with the new functionality to explore the design space by quickly screening results to find samples that satisfy the constraint set(s). Secondly, this course will present the motivation and workflow for surrogate modelling. Surrogate models derived from physics-based models take advantage of deep process knowledge at a reduced computational time. Use the GSA output to create fast-solving surrogate models from rigorous models and deploy them within a flowsheet model |
The gPROMS Soft Sensor and the gPROMS Nonlinear Model Predictive Controller. |
This course will present an introduction to two important real-time digital applications making use of dynamic gPROMS models. The gPROMS Soft Sensor (gSFSN) uses state estimation techniques to combine real-time available plant data with the process model in order to produce the best possible estimate of the current state of the process, including real-time estimates of all important KPIs. Based on an industrial case study, we will provide an overview of state estimation and the available techniques for performing such calculations in gPROMS. We will then focus on one commonly used state estimation technique, the Extended Kalman Filter, outlining the underlying theory and showing how to configure it.
We will then discuss nonlinear model predictive control, a closed-loop technique that makes use of a detailed dynamic model of the process to achieve superior control performance for both continuous and batch operations. We will present the gPROMS Nonlinear Model-Predictive Controller (gNLMPC) and demonstrate its application to industrial case studies.

COMOS |
Managing plant data across the entire lifecycle is a challenging topic across many industries. This session will provide an overview of the platform and an opportunity to have a Q&A with an expert with extensive domain knowledge. |
SIMIT |
The simulation platform SIMIT enables comprehensive tests of automation applications and offers realistic training environments for operators before real systems go into operation. This creates opportunities for process optimisation, reduced commissioning time and operator training. This session will provide an overview of the platform and an opportunity to have a Q&A with an expert with extensive domain knowledge. |
