The British Embassy to Belgium,
in close collaboration with AstraZeneca BeLux,
request the pleasure of your company at
a policy forum and networking reception
on the subject of the future of cancer care in Belgium & Europe.

Every second person is likely to be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their life; globally, 1 in 9 men and 1 in 12 women will die as a result of cancer. This is despite the immense scientific and technological progress that has transpired, the likes of which would have been unimaginable just 50 years ago. Advances in science and technology have enabled us to believe in a future where cancer has been eliminated as a cause of death. As our understanding of the genetics and drivers of cancer has leapt ahead in recent decades, so has the discovery and development of precision medicines and treatment combinations that exploit the vulnerabilities of the disease.

Improving cancer care in Belgium & Europe cannot be done alone. We need people – across governments, health systems, research and industry – to work together towards this bold but achievable future. Join this event in order to hear directly from policymakers, researchers, patient advocates and medical professionals to discuss how we can drive forward policy change in Europe for the benefit of both our citizens and economies.

The seminar will commence by a keynote speech by Mr. Niko Andre, Head of Oncology at AstraZeneca Germany, followed by a panel discussion of different stakeholders on how precision diagnostics and multi-disciplinary care pathways can lead to better outcomes for patients. In an interactive Q&A afterwards, we welcome your input and views on how we can optimise this into a working reality.
