Securing our Maritime Infrastructure

The North Sea, with its busy commercial shipping routes, fisheries, nature conservation, sand extraction and (green) energy infrastructure is small in space yet very busy in activities. In the context of current geopolitical and economical challenges, the security of the North Sea is seen to be at risk, which forces the North Sea countries surrounding this critical space to cooperate on various fields to share and mitigate risk.

State-of-the-Art technology is required to face issues of hacking, sabotage, theft or damage to ensure the maritime’s sector needs are secured. Therefore, the British Embassy, in close cooperation  with the Port of Antwerp-Bruges and the Belgian Blue Cluster is pleased to organise a 2nd edition of our Maritime Innovation Day, presenting solutions and technologies which are designed and developped to protect our maritime infrastructure.    
 

Join this event to hear from Belgian FPS Mobility and Transport / Directorate General Shipping and the British Department for Transport (DfT) on how they define the different security challenges that threaten the maritime industry, as well as the objectives and solutions these government institutions are trying to incorporate in their respective territories.

Next, we are delighted to introduce 16 companies from both Belgium and the UK who will present their solutions for the protection of port infrastructure, offshore assets, the necessity for increased cybersecurity and the need for secured telecommunications at sea. During the event, there will be ample possibilities to engage directly with the speakers and the companies, so you can evaluate directly how these solutions can add value to your activities.  

When will this event take place? Tuesday 27th May 2025, starting at 13.00hrs 

Where? Port Authority Building, Antwerp, Belgium

For whom? This event is aimed at inviting a Belgian audience of public officials, port authority representatives, ship owners, logistical operators and freight forwarders with an active interest in maritime security technologies. Objective of this gathering is to inform these economic actors on the solutions and capabilties of the presenting Belgian and British maritime technology providers.
