For this 2nd edition of our Maritime Showcase series, the British Embassy to Belgium is honoured to be partnering up with the Port of Antwerp-Bruges and Blue Cluster. Both of these institutions are crucial players in the Belgian maritime industry and abroad.
The Port of Antwerp-Bruges is the second largest port in Europe, with more than 300 liner services to more than 800 destinations, thereby ensuring worldwide connectivity. Every year, the Port handles around 290 million tonnes of international maritime cargo and they are home to Europe's largest integrated chemical cluster. The Port employs, directly and indirectly, over 165,000 people and generates added value of more than €21 billion. As such, it is an important lifeline for the Belgian economy.

Blue Cluster is an independent and neutral innovation cluster supporting Flemish companies in setting up partnerships with other companies, knowledge centres and government agencies with a view to develop and promote offshore economic activities.
Blue Cluster has been instrumental in designing the four challenges our event will be addressing today, and the British Embassy would like to thank the organisation explicitly for their contribution to this event.
