Join us as we explore trading opportunities for your business in Europe, including non-EU countries. The event will be hosted by His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner (HMTC) for Europe Chris Barton, who leads a team of over 300 staff in 34 countries across the continent, working to encourage a thriving trade and investment relationship between the UK and other European countries.

The Trade Commissioner has responsibility for all Department for Business and Trade (DBT) work in Europe including:

• Improving market access for UK companies in Europe
• Attracting inward investment from European companies into UK
• Encouraging UK exports to Europe
• Influencing multilateral trade policy with Europe

On the day you will find out more about accessing opportunities across the European continent, get practical tips and hear from our experienced Export Champions, who will share their top tips.

On top of that you will hear from Andrea Collins, an international trade specialist with over 25+ years experience in the industry who will talk about the EU product safety regulatory environment, including CE marking and General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR). The EU has the most stringent product safety regulation globally, companies exporting into the EU and Northern Ireland must comply with specific standards relating to testing, documentation, labelling, and points of contact. In practice, most goods placed on the market in Great Britain are safe but failure to comply with the correct regulation (harmonised standards and GPSR) can lead to goods being held up by customs or returned, and/or fiscal penalties.

We will finish the day with a networking lunch, providing you the opportunity to mingle with like-minded business professionals and the event speakers.
