Members of Communication Matters (or ISAAC if not in the UK) receive a discount on Conference and Study Day registration. If you are interested in becoming a member, please visit our website

If you are an AAC user or family member in the UK (and a member of Communication Matters) and wish to apply for a Subsidised Place for the Conference, please contact the University of Leeds Conference Office on confadmin@leeds.ac.uk to discuss your registration before completing the form. You will need to include your membership number and the number of places required. Subsidised places are limited and subject to availability.

This year for the first time the first PA accompanying an AAC user can attend the conference free of charge. If you can donate even a small amount on our JustGiving page this will help us to be able to continue this support.

There are several categories of Conference registration – all allow entry to all the conference sessions and exhibition hall, and include teas, coffees and buffet lunch (except for the Exhibition-Only rate). The Exhibition-Only rate doesn't allow access to the conference sessions, but buffet lunch and refreshments are available depending on the time you are there.

This year accommodation is only included in the Subsidised Places. For all other categories, accommodation is not included, and you will need to add this to your booking at an additional cost (if required). There is the option to book accommodation at Storm Jameson Court on campus (£72pppn), or to arrange your own at a hotel in the city of Leeds. We have teamed up with Conference Leeds to offer delegates preferential rates at hotels within Leeds for your convenience (rates start from £95 per night). The hotels are: Hampton by Hilton Leeds City Centre, Holiday Inn Express Leeds City Centre Armouries, and Ibis Styles Leeds City Centre Arena. All of the accommodation options include breakfast. Check-in can be on Sunday 7th, Monday 8th, or Tuesday 9th September. You can choose how many nights you require.

The AAC Awards Dinner will take place on the evening of Monday 8th September at The Royal Armouries in Leeds. A ticket to the AAC Awards Dinner is included in the 2 Day Registration and Subsidised Places categories, but it is not included in the 1 Day Registration or Exhibition-Only categories. A ticket to the AAC Awards Dinner can be added on at an additional price. The cost is £65 for a single ticket, or £35 for an AAC user or PA ticket. You may book onto just the AAC Awards Dinner if you wish to only attend this event. More details can be found on our website.

There will be a Relaxed Exhibition on the afternoon of Sunday 7th September. You must register for this event in advance. If you wish to add this to your conference booking you can do so. Please select your conference category first and later you will be asked if you wish to add a Relaxed Exhibition ticket for the Sunday. If you wish to only attend the Relaxed Exhibition and not the conference or other events then please book this here. This event is free of charge. More details can be found on our website.

There will also be a separate Post-Conference Research Study Day on Wednesday 10th September. This additional day is open to conference delegates and others who are interested in research focused strands delivered by an international cohort of researchers and academics. You can add this onto your conference booking at an additional price or book for this event alone. The cost is £150 for a non-member, £125 for a member, or £50 for an AAC user or PA.

You can choose to attend one of two parallel sessions when registering: 1. The Becoming an Aided Communicator (BAC) project team will present on ‘Developing tasks for observing aided language comprehension and production’. 2. Professor Bronwyn Hemsley (Head of Speech Pathology, University of Technology Sydney) and the team from the Department of Computing, School of Science & Engineering at the University of Dundee (Professor Annalu Waller, Dr Tom Griffiths and Rohan Slaughter) will present on AAC and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Please be ready to choose which session you would like to book onto when registering. More details can be found on our website.
