South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) provide the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK to 1.5 million people and aims to be a leader in improving health and wellbeing – locally, nationally and globally. There are very few organisations in the world that have such side-ranging capabilities working with mental illness. Our scope is unique because it is built on three major foundations: care and treatment, science and research and training.
We offer consulting services for development of clinical pathways in community care, hospitals, and integrated care with primary care and general hospital. We focus on: psychosis and schizophrenia, mood disorders such as depression and bipolar, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, autism, eating disorders, substance misuse and dementia. We work with children, adolescents, adults, older people and special situations such as those who are peri-natal.
We train psychiatrists, nurses and other mental health professionals working in general adult, child and adolescent services, forensic, substance misuse, rehabilitation, liaison, peri-natal, eating disorder and older adult services and offer wider on-line training to police, family practitioners and other non mental health professionals.
We provide direct care for over 5,000 in-patients and treat more than 40,000 patients annually in London. Furthermore, through our JV in Maudsley Health we also offer clinical services in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
