About

US Energy at a Crossroads: Dominance or Disruption?

On the campaign trail, President Trump pledged to restore “American energy dominance”. Just months into the new administration, that promise is already reshaping markets in ways few could have anticipated.

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), once heralded as a generational catalyst for clean energy investment, faces a patchwork of freezes and rollbacks. Tariffs raise the risk of higher prices for energy consumers, offshore wind projects have been stalled or cancelled, and tax incentives for clean energy appear to be under threat.

At the same time, the U.S. needs power now more than ever. Interconnection queues have been slow to bring online new generation and order books for new gas turbines are backed up until the late 2020s. Therein lies a growing paradox: How can the United States unleash “energy dominance” and meet demand, particularly the  surging needs of AI-driven data centers, while simultaneously walking back many of the policies designed to foster a cheaper, cleaner, and more reliable power system?

For many in the industry, 2025 represents a critical juncture, as a moment that could redefine the trajectory of America’s energy future.

The second edition of the Aurora Energy Transition Forum will bring together senior and influential leaders from the US energy sector—developers, utilities, investors, government, tech, and finance—to make sense of this moment. We’ll explore the risks and realities behind the headlines:

  • What does “energy dominance” mean in an age of interconnection bottlenecks, policy uncertainty, and shifting geopolitics?

  • How much data center load growth can we really expect to see over the next decade?

  • Can dispatchable generation like gas and battery energy storage scale fast enough?

  • How are investment strategies evolving in response to the changing market?

The question isn't just how we will power America’s future: it's who will shape it. Join us in New York this fall to examine where the US goes next—and who leads the way.

Why Attend?

  • Hear directly from senior leaders across utilities, development, finance, and government shaping the future of North America’s energy transition.

  • Explore actionable solutions to today’s challenges: from permitting bottlenecks to deploying capital in an unpredictable environment.

  • Network with key decision-makers in a high-level, focused setting designed to foster meaningful dialogue.

  • Understand what the energy demands of AI and digital infrastructure mean for resource adequacy, clean energy deployment, and project economics.

  • Gain strategic insight into the impact of US energy policy and global geopolitics on investment flows, cost of capital, and project development.
