Discover Rome

Host City of ESA 2026 MAY 14-16, 2026

We are honoured to welcome you to the European Surgical Association (ESA) Annual Meeting 2026, taking place in Rome, Italy, from May 14th to 16th, at the NH Hotel Vittorio Veneto, ideally located near Via Veneto and Villa Borghese. This edition of the Annual Meeting, under the presidency of Prof. Peter Lodge and Professor Antonio D. Pinna, gathers leading surgeons and academics from Europe and around the world for three days of high-level scientific exchange.

The ESA remains committed to cultivating excellence in surgical science and practice. Membership is reserved for internationally recognized leaders in surgery, with demonstrated academic and clinical leadership. The Annual Meeting represents the culmination of this mission — a platform where the most innovative and impactful surgical research is presented, discussed, and often published in the prestigious Annals of Surgery.

We are proud to welcome our colleagues ESA members representing leading institutions across Europe and internationally scientific recognized. Their expertise will ensure a comprehensive and stimulating congress, reflecting the diversity and depth of contemporary surgical practice.

In addition to its scientific content, the ESA 2026 Annual Meeting offers an exceptional social program, providing participants with the opportunity to experience Rome’s unique cultural heritage in an exclusive setting:

  • May 15th – Welcome Reception: Open to all participants, this elegant gathering at Terrazza Caffarelli will feature panoramic views over the city and the Vatican, offering the perfect setting to connect and unwind.
  • May 16th – Social Dinner: The congress will conclude with a refined dinner at Villa Piccolomini, on the Janiculum Hill, offering an extraordinary view of the Roman skyline.

We invite you to join us in Rome for a congress that promises not only outstanding scientific content but also memorable moments of collegiality and cultural enrichment in one of the world’s most iconic cities.
