What is Ambassador for a Day?

Ambassador for a Day is a unique programme organised by British Embassies around the world which offers girls aged 15 to 18 an exceptional opportunity to discover the fascinating world of diplomacy.

For the 2026 edition, we’re launching a new format! With the arrival of our new Ambassador to France, Sir Thomas Drew, the programme is evolving: this year, eight participants will be selected to experience an unforgettable day at the heart of the diplomatic world.
 

You will experience an action-packed day where you will:

  • Meeting with Sir Thomas Drew, the British Ambassador to France
  • Inspiring discussions with other ambassadors and diplomats
  • Discovering behind the scenes of British diplomacy, how it really works!
     

Get ready for a fantastic day of meeting inspiring people and discovering the world of diplomacy!

Who can participate?

Girls aged 15 to 18, of all nationalities and backgrounds, residing in metropolitan France.

How to participate? 

It's simple, just fill out the form by clicking the button below and attach a video of maximum 2 minutes answering the following question:
 

How can solidarity between girls - by encouraging each other, sharing, and working together - help advance gender equality?
 

Good news: you can choose between English and French to express yourself, language will not be a selection criterion.

What is the deadline to participate?

Applications will close on 4 January 2026 at 11:59 PM. The jury will decide on the eight selected candidates by the end of January 2026, and the programme will take place in March 2026, around International Women's Day.
