ReThinking Obesity

BASO World Obesity Week Conference 2026

Dear colleagues and friends,

On behalf of the Belgian Association for the Study of Obesity (BASO), we are pleased to welcome you to the BASO World Obesity Week Conference 2026 – ReThinking Obesity.

This event will take place on Friday, March 6, at De Hoorn, Sluisstraat 79, 3000 Leuven.

Obesity remains a complex and pressing health challenge, affecting individuals across all age groups and requiring a truly multidisciplinary approach. This symposium offers an excellent opportunity for professionals from a wide range of fields—including surgeons, endocrinologists, paediatricians, dietitians, nurses, psychologists, physical therapists, and researchers—to connect, exchange insights, and explore the latest developments in obesity treatment and research.

The PMOC (Pediatric Multidisciplinary Obesity Centers) sessions will be held on Friday afternoon and provide valuable expertise for professionals dedicated to the care of younger patients. We particularly encourage general practitioners, paediatricians, and other first-line caregivers (CLB, ONE, Kind & Gezin, etc.) to attend and actively participate.

We are confident that the sessions and networking moments will inspire collaboration, spark new ideas, and contribute to your professional development.

We look forward to the shared learning and meaningful conversations that will help shape the future of obesity care in Belgium and beyond.

Best regards,

Prof. Bart Van der Schueren
President, BASO
