Projects to Policy Seminar

Seminar 2026

            ABOUT

Every year, the European Research Executive Agency (REA) and the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME) organise Projects to Policy Seminar (PPS), a key event bringing together coordinators of newly launched civil security research projects. The 2026 edition will welcome representatives from 36 projects funded under the Horizon Europe programme.

This seminar offers an opportunity to connect research with policy, providing a platform for participants to present their work, exchange insights, and align project outcomes with the needs of EU security policy.

The event includes a plenary session featuring presentations of general interest, followed by interactive breakout sessions arranged around the four destinations:

  1. Border Management (BM)
  2. Disaster-Resilient Societies (DRS)
  3. Fighting Crime and Terrorism & Critical Infrastructure (FCT/INFRA)
  4. Strengthened Security Research and Innovation (SSRI)

Cross-thematic discussions will also allow for broader dialogue across the civil security research landscape.

The aim of the seminar is to:

  • Inform EU policy-making by raising awareness among relevant Directorates-General about the new research projects.
  • Offer guidance to project coordinators on how to align their work with policy priorities and enhance policy-relevant impact.

We look forward to an engaging and collaborative exchange that strengthens the bridge between research and policy in the field of civil security.
