Restructuring and Insolvency Academic Forum 2026

18-19 June 2026 | Bangkok, Thailand

Thammasat University, The Prachan Campus

The 2026 Forum is the second in the RIAF series. Hosted by the Thammasat University Faculty of Law, it reflects the Forum’s broader commitment to regional academic partnerships across Asia. It is co-organised by the Centre for Asian Legal Studies, Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore, the Thammasat University Faculty of Law, and INSOL International Asia Hub, with support from the INSOL International Academic Focus Group and the Asian Law Centre, Melbourne Law School. RIAF 2025, hosted in person at the National University of Singapore, marks a new platform for regionally grounded academic research and exchange on corporate restructuring and insolvency in Asia. The forum brings together a diverse group of scholars, including many early-career researchers and emerging scholars to present work examining legal frameworks, reform trajectories, and cross-border challenges shaping the region's evolving landscape, with a particular focus on Southeast Asia and emerging markets.

Building on the inaugural Forum held in 2025 in Singapore, RIAF 2026 will bring together a regional mix of emerging scholars, established academics, and practitioners to present and discuss research on current developments in corporate restructuring, turnaround, and insolvency, with a focus on regional developments, cross-border issues, and Asian perspectives.

A dedicated segment will focus on asset tracing and recovery in the context of corporate insolvencies, drawing on themes addressed in the UNCITRAL Toolkit on Asset Tracing and Recovery in Insolvency Proceedings. Topics will include asset tracing and recovery across different jurisdictions, funding of recovery actions, cross-border and private international law issues, and the tracing and recovery of digital assets.

Participation is by invitation only.
