CONGRESS DINNER
Saturday, 18 September 2021
Kaunas Garrison Officers’ Club (A. Mickeviciaus St. 19)
You are welcome to attend the congress dinner at the Kaunas Garrison Officers’ Club which is located just 350 m from congress venue. Take a pleasant walk in the heart of the city and enjoy socialising with friends and colleagues, acommpanied by tasty food and live musical performances.
Venue | Kaunas Garrison Officers’ Club
The palace, built in 1937, is an extravagant building of the late inter‑war period. It is distinguished by its ‘national’ style and patriotic symbols. The palace serve both for representation of the state and for the public need.
The facade of this important building on A. Mickevicius Street combines modernist and classical features, such as columns, an attic, stained glass windows on the second floor and a central entrance. Located above the spectacular door are the coats of arms of the biggest cities of Lithuania, and a sculptural composition Trys milzinai (Three Giants) representing ancient warriors.
On the first floor there is a restaurant in which even the Lithuanian President Antanas Smetona would celebrate the New Year. The second floor is a representative one, where visitors are greeted by the impressive halls of Art Deco, blended with an ethnic style and a medieval spirit.
In 2015, Kaunas Garrison Officers’ Club was awarded the European Heritage Label by the European Commission as an object of modernist interwar architecture in Kaunas.
Here, a lot of attention is paid to the remembrance of history. Before the dinner, you will be invited for a tour, guided by the scholarly and charming staff of the Club. The dinner will take place in the Club’s great hall.
Live Performance | The Ditties
The Ditties is a trio of professional jazz singers performing early swing style music with close vocal harmony and syncopated rhythms.
The chanteuses are fascinated by the balance of their voices, the playfulness, the vintage-style clothes and the hand-picked repertoire that will take us back to the swinging forties.
The listeners will be enchanted by the singers’ energy, subtlety and good mood. This trio will not leave anyone indifferent, including those who miss the authentic, acoustic and cozy jazz sound rarely heard in current times.
Congress Dinner doors open at 19:30.
Book your ticket during the online registration for the Congress.
Clothing – festive attire. Interwar period details are very welcome.
