Bhargav also has substantial experience in sophisticated research techniques/technologies and working with cross-functional engineering, scientific and research teams. Alice Farren-Bradley

Lecturer - Cultural Heritage Crime at Cranfield Forensic Institute

Alice Farren-Bradley is the Lecturer in Cultural Heritage Crime at Cranfield Forensic Institute. Alice Farren-Bradley teaches across Cranfield University's globally unique MSc Forensic Investigation of Cultural Heritage Crime, and leads the International Cultural Heritage Crime course at CFI. Alice read Ancient History and Archaeology at Durham University before completing her Graduate Diploma in Law and Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Legal Practice through the University of Law.  She holds a PGCert in Research Training and is currently working on her PhD with Newcastle University, investigating the legal and market implications of military initiatives for cultural property protection during armed conflict. Prior to joining Cranfield, Alice taught Art Law at Kingston University and lectured extensively on cultural heritage crime and art market ethics for academic audiences at the Courtauld Institute of Art, Audencia Business School, the University of Edinburgh, New York University, Christies Education London, and the Institut d'Études Supérieures des Arts. Outside of academia Alice has over a decade of experience in practice resolving cultural property claims and heritage disputes involving stolen, looted, fake and forged artefacts.  Since 2013 she has also served as Moderator of the pro-bono Museum Security Network, where she disseminates daily updates on cultural heritage crime and risk management to a global network of museum stakeholders and law enforcement agencies.  
 

Simon Cullen

Lead Digital Forensic Scientist - Forensic Capability Network

Simon Cullen joined the world of digital forensics in 2010 after a career in web development, e-commerce and business management systems. He went on to spend 10 years working in operational policing as a digital forensic practitioner specialising in mobile device forensics, DF unit manager and scientific support service lead. One of his many achievements in this role was to gain ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation for mobile device forensics within Hampshire Constabulary, a first for UK law enforcement. 
In 2018 and drawing on his experience of accreditation and standards Simon joined the United Kingdom Accreditation Service as the technical lead for digital forensic accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 and 17020 standards. Working closely with the Forensics Science Regulator he made significant contributions to the shaping of digital forensics quality standards in England and Wales.
In 2020 Simon was offered the opportunity to join the newly formed Forensic Capability Network as the Lead Digital Forensic Scientist, a role which he describes as his dream job. In this role Simon contributes to the delivery of centrally developed innovative digital forensic services for all of policing. His current projects include the automation of DF processes to support child sexual abuse material (CSAM) investigations, a central validation service for DF methods, privacy by design and default for DF processes and tools, and he is currently working with Home Office and other partners to shape and deliver the digital forensic response to the end-to-end rape review report by improving the experience of victims / survivors of rape and serious sexual assault where digital device examination is required.
 

Peter Cook

British Deputy High Commissioner to Gujarat and Rajasthan

Peter Cook took up his appointment in Ahmedabad as the British Deputy High Commissioner to Gujarat and Rajasthan on 14th  January 2019. Peter Cook came back to India after 50 years, having been born in Kolkata in 1963. He grew up and lived there until he was 7, before returning to UK with his parents. He comes to India most recently from serving as the Managing Director of the British Chamber of Commerce in Qatar. He has enjoyed a long and varied career with the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) having served as Consul General and Director of Trade in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. He was earlier Deputy Consul General Istanbul and Deputy Director of Trade and Investment in Turkey.  He has served also in Denmark, Barbados, Qatar, Guyana and the UK Mission to the UN in New York. Alongside his interest in Anglo-Indian affairs, Peter is a keen traveller, amateur dramatist and enthusiastic golfer. He enjoys sampling food culture and local arts.
 

Archana Shivhare

Inspector General of Police - Gujarat State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB)

Dr. Archana Shivhare is currently serving as the Inspector General of Police at the Gujarat State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB). At SCRB, she is involved in the Investigation and detection of Cyber Crime, Compilation and publication of Crime Statistics of entire Gujarat state and the implementation of Information technology in police department of the state.  Dr. Shivhare is highly qualified having obtained her PHD from Saurashtra University, MBA from University of Rajasthan and Masters in National Security from Australian National University. She has a long list of achievements in her career at Indian Police Service. She was awarded ‘National Crime Records Bureau Best Practices Awards’ in 2019 and 2020. She was also awarded the distinguished President’s medal for meritorious service on the eve of India’s Republic Day in 2021. Apart from being a fluent speaker of Hindi, English and Gujrati , Dr. Shivhare also speaks a diversity of languages such as French, Sanskrit, Nagmese and Swahili.
 

Carolyn Lovell

NPCC Research and Development Lead - Forensic Capability Network

Carolyn Lovell is the NPCC Research and Development Lead for the Forensic Capability Network. Joining the FCN in January 2020, having previously worked for a UK Police Force for the past 25 years across Forensic Investigations leaving her last position as Head of Forensic Operations. Carolyn held the strategic responsibility for all frontline forensic services, ensuring compliance with ISO quality standards and continuous improvement in the face of rapidly evolving and changing landscapes. Carolyn has significant experience of crime scene management and coordination within complex police and DVI investigations.  Carolyn continues to provide forensic oversight and continued support to Sexual Assault Services both locally and nationally. She is a member of the Forensic Regulators Medical Specialist Group and is also supporting the NPCC Rape Portfolio.  Carolyn is a member of the NPCC Homicide Working Group – subgroup for Child Death Investigation working group and currently has the lead for Forensics and research.  Carolyn is also an honorary Forensic Studies lecturer at the University of Portsmouth and has provided forensic training and lecturing for UK and international agencies. Carolyn has a BSc in Biology and an MSc in Forensic Archaeology and is currently studying for a PHD in Criminal Justice linked to the investigation of Sexual offences.  Since starting her new role within the FCN, Carolyn’s focus is to develop key research partnerships working with stakeholders and coordinate forensic research nationally in support of UK policing strategic requirements.

Naveen Kumar Chaudhary

Professor & Dean - National Forensic Sciences University, Institution of National Importance, Gujarat, India

With more than 23 years of rich experience as Academician, Cyber Security enabler, Administrator and Cyber-forensic expert, Dr. Naveen speacialises in Cyber Security, Digital Forensics, Computer, Mobile and Drone Forensics, Network Vulnerability Assessment & Penetration Testing (NVAPT), Cyber Security Audit and Assessment, Cyber Security Policy and Crisis Management Plan formulation and implementation. He was an appointed member in the high-level committee constituted by the Chairman University Grants Commission for developing an ecosystem for Cyber Security in Higher Education Institutions in India- 2021. He has also served as a member of Jury, SMART INDIA HACKATHON-2017 and 2019 (software edition). He has published more than 30 papers and articles in journals, magazines and newsletters with 04 innovations in ICT domain. His Cyber-Forensic expertise includes technical acumen to investigate and probe cyber incidents, providing cyber security consultancy to critical infrastructure and financial institutions, planning and implementation of organisational specific cyber security framework, design and implementation of  advanced Cyber Range, Cyber-forensic investigation of computer, mobile, drone and digital devices.  He is deputed as a University resource person to impart training on Cyber-forensics abroad. He has visited 06 countries as a member of Subject Matter Expert (SME) team on Cyber Security and headed team of SMEs on Cyber Security in 10 countries.

Dr. S. O. Junare is serving as a Campus Director in National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar Campus, Gujarat, India. He has co-authored  75+ papers, 50+conference papers, 10 book chapters.
He has undertaken 6 major research projects from Government and has coordinated more than 500 training programmes for various officers of banks, financial institutes, police, judiciary and other government officials.
He has also served as the head of Cyber Defense Centre, Ballistic Research Centre, Centre of Excellence in Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substance and International Centre for Humanitarian Forensics, at National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar.

Dr. Digvijaysinh Rathod working as Associate Dean and Associate Professor in the School of Cyber Security and Digital Forensics, National Forensic Sciences University, Gujarat (India). He has 17 years of teaching, research and consultancy experience in the domain of cyber forensics. He has published more than 20 research papers in the reputed journal. He has provided his service as a cyber-forensic consultant to the Govt. of Saudi Arabia, Govt. of India and Gujarat He has also trained more than 500 law enforcement officers in the domain of cyber forensic. He has actively participated in high profile cases in which mobile forensic and computer forensics played a major role. Dr. J. M. Vyas is the founder Vice Chancellor of National Forensic Sciences University, which is a Central University and Institution of National Importance under Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. He is also holding the additional charge of Director General, Directorate of Forensic Science, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. He is the senior most Forensic Scientist of the country and possess vast and rich experience of 48 years in the Forensics domain, that include 27 years of service as head of the Forensic Science Laboratory, Gujarat, India. He has been instrumental in introducing many innovative investigation technologies and best practices. He was the pioneer in establishing world’s first Forensic Sciences University at Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India in 2009. The University has been elevated as a Central University with a status of Institution of National Importance on 01st October 2020. He has contributed immensely with his domain expertise in Forensics and he has been part of the various expert committees. The Ministry of Railways, Government of India, appointed him as a member of the “Task Force” for Railway safety audits. He was also appointed as a consultant to C.B.I., New Delhi for the establishment of “International Centre of Excellence in Forensic Science” (ICEFS), Ghaziabad. He remained as a member of Organizing Committee, INTERPOL, for the three consecutive terms i.e. 2008-2010, 2011- 2013 and 2014 – 2016. He has been also part of the governing council of many reputed bodies that include member of “Governing Council of Association of Indian Universities (AIU)”, New Delhi, and member of “Governing Council of Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA)”, New Delhi that is headed by Hon’ble Vice President of India. He is also member of Governing Council of International Institute of Digital Technology (IIDT), Tirupati, that is headed by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.  The contribution of Dr. J. M. Sarah Morris

Senior Lecturer - Digital Investigation Unit

Sarah is the Head of the Digital Investigation Unit, part of the Centre for Electronic Warfare, Information and Cyber. Sarah is focused on Digital Investigation. A field devoted to the digital analysis of a variety of digital devices for any investigative scenario. This includes (but not limited to) digital forensics, incident response, intelligence operations, open source intelligence, civil proceedings, and corporate investigations. Sarah is firmly focused on binary level analysis where appropriate, and has a broad and deep technical skillset. Sarah is casework active, focusing on Digital Investigation casework, but also performs complex data/document recovery, and general consultancy including ISO accreditation reviewers for organisations on request. She has worked on both civil and criminal investigations across a wide sphere of devices and operations. Sarah has worked with a variety of clients including Civil, Criminal, Corporate and Celebrity. Her most famous case involved the recovery of data from a smart washing machine. As a well known Digital Investigation practitioner and academic, she has given multiple interviews across TV, radio, and print formats. Her media engagements have included: BBC Radio 4 (Facebook live and live radio event), BBC World Service, BBC Radio 4 pre-records, HR Knowledge Bank, The Engineer, and BCS Now.
 

Samir Datt

Samir Datt - an alumni of NIT Rourkela, IIT Kanpur and IIFT Delhi founded Forensicsguru.com in 1999 and has 30+ years experience. He is also the President of Digital Investigators Association. His book 'Learning Networks Forensics' published by Packt Publishers UK is about physical and virtual evidence to understand sort of crime committed by capturing and analysing network traffic. samir is also a fellow of the Indian Police Foundation. Apart from his various achievements he is a visiting faculty at NPA Hyderabad, CBI Academy, NICFS Delhi amongst others. He is also an angel investor for product startups in the Cyber Forensics/Investigation Field.

Andrew David SHELDON

Director of Innovation - CCL Solutions Group

Having founded the UKs most successful PC audit and compliance business (fPrint) in the 1980s, Andrew became one of a handful of independent digital forensic experts and, in 1992, started  providing digital forensic consulting services to the international enforcement and military community. In 2006, he was awarded one of the first masters degrees in Forensic Computing from Cranfield University at the Royal Military College of Science.  He was also appointed as a recognised teacher and designed and taught the Internet Investigation module for the Masters course. In 2021, he was appointed Course Director for the new Digital Forensics Masters Degree course at Cranfield University. In 1993 Andrew founded Evidence Talks Ltd (acquired by the CCL Group in May 2019) which specialises in providing advanced forensic services to the international enforcement and intelligence communities and developing innovative Digital Forensic technology with an emphasis on forensic exploitation (covert and overt), workflow automation and forensic triage. A regular speaker and trainer at both domestic and international security, forensics and compliance events, Andrew is a recognised expert witness in both civil and criminal cases and a contributing editor in multiple editions of the legal reference book ‘Electronic Evidence’ published by University of London Press. 

Duncan Brown

Senior Policy Advisor - College of Policing

After completing his degree in civil and structural engineering and working for 5 years in construction, Duncan was made redundant and decided to retrain. He got a job with the Metropolitan Police in London UK as an Identification Officer, qualifying as a CSI and fingerprint expert. In 1999, Duncan moved to the UK national forensic training centre as an instructor, training on CSI, fingerprint, and laboratory courses. He was later promoted to team leader, overseeing foundation CSI learning, and later, to head of CSI training. Duncan also led the introduction of an ISO9001 quality management system into the training centre. Since 2015 he has been a senior policy advisor at the College of Policing working on policy and guidance in investigation. In 2017, the College of Policing stopped the direct delivery of forensic training, and since then he has been leading on the transition of forensic training from central delivery to a licensed delivery model where forces deliver forensic learning products under a licence from the College of Policing. The College of Policing holds the learning standards for all police training across England and Wales – forces design their own training products based on those standards and deliver them either only to their own force or offer them out to other forces.
 

Stuart Hyde

LLB

Stuart has 30 years police service and served as Chief Constable. He has skills at executive level particularly within Law Enforcement and the public sector managing, leading, and resolving critical incidents of local regional and international significance. Stuart is an expert in cyber and digital enabled crime with wide policing experience in many fields including as Chief Constable of Cumbria Police. Stuart designed, facilitated, and implemented the national response amongst the UK Voluntary and Community Sector to their operational support in the aftermath of the Grenfell Fire and Manchester Arena attack.  Stuart designed Critical Incident immersive training programme for industry to respond to Cyber-attacks. Stuart has managed extensive, immersive training events for senior police officers in serious crime and counter terrorism across 7 police forces including public disorder and crisis management. Stuart led police response to the last active shooter in the UK following 12 murders in one hour (Cumbria), he managed evacuation of the city centre of UKs second largest city. He led the response and recovery from Immigration Centre disruption and destruction (Harmondsworth). Stuart was awarded the Queens Police Medal and a Doctorate in Technology for his engagement in public security.
 

Andy Rose

Msc.

Andy is a retired Detective Inspector and has an MSc in Investigative Forensic Psychology.  With 30 years’ experience with the Metropolitan Police Service, Andy has extensive experience in frontline policing, in uniformed and CID roles, as well as significant experience in police education both nationally and internationally.  He is PIP 3 accredited with particular experience in investigating organised crime, homicide, serious sexual offences, and serious road collisions. His roles have included: - Trainer at Crime Academy, Intelligence Manager, SIO Major Crime Investigation, Tactical Advisor pan-London Fatal Collision Investigation.  Since 2013 he has been at the University of West London and is currently a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Science, Psychology, Criminology and Policing.  He is a board member of the HE Forum for Policing, a national body supporting police learning at all levels.  He is an external examiner for Policing related matters at three UK Universities, he sits on various committees with the College of Policing concerned with the PEQF (Police Education Qualification Framework) for new policing academic levels and he is accredited to authorise RPEL (Recognition of Prior Experience and Learning) applications onto degree level programmes.  This is especially relevant with the new PEQF programme and will allow access to degree level studies for serving and retired officers and police staff who may not have an undergraduate degree.  Andy has represented LPC both Nationally and Internationally and his areas of expertise include: - Practical and Pedagogic involvement in Roads Policing, Organised Crime, Forensic Science, Scene Management, Interviewing, CHIS Management, Training Design, Training Needs Analysis, International Operational Review, Decision Making, Criminology, Investigative Psychology. He is currently undertaking a professional doctorate in policing.  

Nikola Protrka

Professor - Police College Zagreb, Croatia

Dr Protrka joined the Croatian Police service in 1998.  As a national expert on Cybercrime, he worked in most investigative areas related to Cybercrime from computer fraud, ransomware, DDOS attacks, digital evidence, computer forensics and data protection. With both an operational and strategic police background and over 25 years of training and development experience his passion is Cyber Intelligence/Surveillance/Defence, operational risk and business continuity related issues and learning to improve performance, employee awareness and professionalism. He is an experienced training manager and facilitator with a reputation for producing a positive and productive learning environment, with national and international experience at both the strategic and operational levels. Dr Protrka's doctoral thesis is entitled " International Cooperation and Security in Combating Crime in Cyberspace". Thesis is based on the different perceptions of international co-operation in cyberspace and the security threatened by the crime of this domain. Dr Protrka has explored and analysed the current state of cyberspace as well as the cybersecurity endangered by the fact of various criminal offenses in cyberspace.
Dr Protrka is a serving Police officer. He became a professor at the Police Academy Zagreb in 2011 and represented Croatian Ministry of the Interior internationally, designing and delivering training on various topics related to digital evidence, computer forensics, cybercrime etc. He has considerable operational experience in criminal investigations, and he is a member of European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training - CEPOL. Dr Protrka is recognised expert included in various EU projects like Twinning project "Providing support in the implementation of the modernized legislative framework for personal data protection in the Republic of North Macedonia" in cooperation with German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation – IRZ, and Network and Information Security Expert at European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) in Athens, Greece. Dr Protrka is an expert witness for IT with more than 20 years of experience at court cases.
 

Brian Hook

Expert - UN International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)

Brian hook joined the University of West London in 2006 where he was instrumental in the development, creation of the curriculum and specific subject matter through to the successful validation of the current BSc Forensic Science Degree. He lectures at the University of West London where he teaches students at undergraduate and post graduate level forensic crime scene assessment, investigation and management, policing and the investigative process of serious and international crime.  
A career detective for 30 years in the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) before embarking on his current academic adventure he served on the Anti-Terrorist Branch, Racial & Violent Crime Directorate, Major Investigation Teams and the Specialist Crime Directorate Homicide Command at New Scotland Yard where he was involved with the assessment, management and forensic examination of serious crime scenes and incidents, surveillance and covert forensics throughout the UK and overseas.  Whilst serving in the MPS he trained and lectured extensively on forensic and terrorism related subjects to UK police forces and outside agencies including Fire and Rescue Services, Security and intelligence Services, Military, FBI and the UK National Forensic Training Establishment. Brian is an accredited ‘Expert’ for the UN International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the subject of emergency preparation and response and the investigation and examination of nuclear or radiological emergencies, incidents and accidents. 

Rod Jarman

QPM OSTJ MST MSC PGCE

Rod has over 32 years’ experience in the Metropolitan Police Service with experience in frontline policing, developing leadership and learning. He has achieved success in Policing with a focus on neighbourhood policing, critical incident management, crime prevention, leadership, and learning. Rod’s role as Deputy Assistant Commissioner (DAC) was as a Director for Leadership and Learning in the Metropolitan Police Service with overall responsibility for delivery of all training and leading 33,000 police officers and staff achieving considerable success at solving and reducing crime, increasing competency, and detaining offenders.
Rod has developed his own consultancy delivering training police forces in the UK, Abu Dhabi, and China with over 150 associates and 75 programmes covering every aspect of police development, including undergraduate and post graduate degrees. He has led the London Policing College and developed sustainable programmes in the UK, Middle East, Far East and China. He has maintained his operational capability and insight as an Associate Inspector with Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary Fire and Rescue (HMICFRS) focusing on Leadership and supporting Inspections of forces on all aspects of Policing. Rod is the lead for police education and research at the University of West London, leading on the development and delivery of graduate and post graduate qualifications in policing, supporting the introduction of the UK Police Education Qualifications Framework (PEQF). In addition, he is an Associate lecturer for the College of Policing that involves all National Police UK training. He holds masters’ degrees in Police Leadership and Management (Leicester) and Applied Criminology (Cambridge), a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and is a Fellow of the Institute of Civil Protection and Emergency Management and Chartered Management Institute. He holds the Queen’s Police Medal for services to policing and is a member of the most venerable order of St John of Jerusalem.
 

Simon Harwood

Director Defence and Security - Intelligence, Security Community (A-RISC)

Cranfield is a specialist UK post-graduate university that is a global leader for education and transformational research in technology and management. Simon is director of Cranfield University’s defence and security division, a member of the University’s senior management team and managing director of a services spin-out company from the University.  Simon is also the chairman of the UK’s Academic-Resilience, Intelligence and Security Community, and a non-executive director and advisor to numerous technology start-ups. Simons current academic work sees him involved in national security risk assessment and its relationship to resilience planning. Alongside this Simon looks at the effect of ‘disruptive’ technology to Homeland Security as well as skills and education programmes for Government.  Prior to this Simon was the strategy and business development director for the international arm of Boeing’s Phantom Works, the advanced prototyping arm of the Boeing Company.  Simon also spent many years working the British Government in advanced research and development.
