Brazil is a world leader in the Renewables sector. According to the Brazilian Energy Research Office (EPE), renewable energy sources will represent 88% of the country’s electric power matrix and 48% in the total energy matrix by the end of 2030. The strategy for the upcoming decade will be focused on expanding the country’s matrix in 55GW, mainly from bioenergy, solar and onshore wind, ensuring energy security. A more diverse and competitive renewable matrix, aligned with the participation of the private sector, is also part of the strategy in order to meet international sustainable development goals.

Investment in transmission lines and substations for the next ten years should reach up to 14 billion GBP (103 bn BRL). The market should also be driven by Energy Distributed Generation, focused on micro and mini grids, which will reach 2.3% of the total power consumption by 2030.

Hydrogen and Offshore Wind are also on the horizon and have received special attention from Government and private sector with an aim to develop regulatory frameworks to open new opportunities for investors.
