College Leadership and Governance Summit: Colleges as Key Drivers of Inclusive Economic Renewal
Thursday, 28th April 2022
09:30 - 13:30
About the event
The Summit will bring together sector leaders, board members and industry partners to discuss the role of colleges as anchor institutions within their regional economies and the role they will continue to play in driving forward economic renewal and growth. Titled “Colleges as Key Drivers of Inclusive Regional Economic Renewal” the sessions will build on the work to provide our colleges with an opportunity to analyse the role they play in their regional economies through a facilitated series of self-reflective conversations and insights.
This year, we are also delighted to have two keynote speakers:
Carolyn McLeod, Audit Director, Audit Scotland
Carolyn will focus on the performance of Scotland’s colleges in the last year and the learning the sector may take from this into their planning.
Prof. Graeme Leach, visiting Chair in Economic Policy, University of Lincoln and former Chief Economist at the IoD
Graeme’s talk will step into the future of the economy and will show why we shouldn’t have expected a surge in technology led growth before now, but should from now on, from mid-2020s onwards. He will also explain why Covid-19 is likely to accelerate the process. He is writing a forthcoming book, The Great Inflection, on which his keynote is based.
College leaders, board members and staff interested in the role colleges play in driving forward economic renewal and growth. Industry partners of colleges are also particularly welcome.
