About the North of England

The North of England - also known as the Northern Powerhouse - is a global centre for creativity and innovation. Formed of the three UK regions, the North West, North East, and Yorkshire and the Humber, it is home to 15.2 million people, and has some of the UK's most vibrant cities, including Hull, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, and Sheffield.

The energy industry is one of the key sectors of the North of England, and attracts world class companies, such as Siemens and Orsted.

It has seven international airports, including Manchester Airport, which is your ideal arrival point to the UK for this trade visit.

The region is also home to 12 major trading ports including Liverpool, Teesport and the Humber Port which all have freeport status.

There are six northern universities in the top 20 for research excellence nationally, with internationalisation through university links, research partnerships, and collaborations with global businesses.
