Delivering the energy transition in a fractured world:

Navigating price volatility, geopolitical risk, and supply chain disruption

The energy transition faces a perilous moment now. The pandemic is subsiding; yet the impacts of humanity’s response are being felt acutely across the energy sector.

First, the abrupt closure of the global economy stifled investment in swathes of the supply chain – notably in metals, fossil fuels and transport capacity – which has left substantial shortfalls and bottlenecks upon reopening. Strikingly, the cost of batteries and solar cells are up 30%, against a backdrop of rapidly falling price over the past decade.

Second, enormously accommodative monetary and fiscal policy – especially in the USA - has created a macroeconomic environment of stagflation that is blunting investment signals and may well presage a higher interest rate environment.

Third, geopolitical conflict has boiled over into war in Europe and the supply of energy is being wielded as among Russia’s most potent weapons.

Amid this chaos, Aurora’s 2022 Spring Forum returns for its 8th edition, offering an opportunity to sit back in Oxford, take stock, reflect and engage with other energy sector decision-makers from around the world.

The leading annual gathering of the energy industry, the Aurora Spring Forum 2022 discusses the state of the energy transition globally in the context of Russia’s war in Ukraine and the long-term security and affordability of energy in Europe.

Attend the Aurora Spring Forum 2022 for crucial insights from our curated list of speakers, including Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng - UK Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Ben van Beurden - Chief Executive Officer, Shell, Miguel Stilwell d'Andrade - CEO, EDP & EDP Renewables, Ruth Kent - Managing Partner & COO, Renewable Power & Transition Group, Brookfield, Greg Jackson - Founder & CEO, Octopus Energy, Hunter Hunt, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Hunt Energy and more!
