Access UK Telecoms 5G R&D Opportunities

Thursday, 8 September 2022

10.00 - 11.00 CET / 9.00 - 10.00 GMT

The UK government is committed to building secure and resilient communications infrastructure by enhancing competition and innovation within the telecoms supply chain and it is investing £250 million in the diversification of its 5G telecommunications network through the Open Networks Research and Development Fund . This investment is set to significantly broaden UK 5G supply chains, providing opportunities for 5G technology suppliers using open platforms such as Open RAN.

To support this investment, the UK government has launched the UK Telecoms Innovation Network (UKTIN), a new body dedicated to boosting creativity in the country’s telecoms supply chain.

If you are a European innovative SME, accelerator, innovation centre or researcher within the 5G arena, join this workshop to hear how you can participate in this opportunity, either by collaborating with UK companies or by directly carrying out R&D in the UK.

The session will open with an overview of the UK business landscape and diversification agenda, with the £250 million fund, followed by specific opportunities to collaborate via the Innovate UK’s main schemes and soft landing programmes at innovation parks across the UK and regional support.

This event is hosted by Department for International Trade (DIT), Innovate UK and Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS).

For more information on the UK Government plans to boost innovation in 5G and 6G see this press release.
