Abstract Submission Process

In the link below you will be taken to the Qualtrics form to complete the abstract submission – there are some questions to answer first about who is presenting, their affiliation and preferences for oral or poster presentation format. Then you will have a template to use to upload your abstract back to the Qualtrics site.

The format you will be asked to use for the template is as follows:

Abstract: Unstructured format, i.e. without headings. The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, methods, the principal results and major conclusions. Acknowledgments or references can be included but must be within the word count (total word count is 300**). References require cited author(s), abbreviated title of the journal, volume, pages and year. No tables, figures or footnotes are permitted. Do not allude to findings or discussions that will be presented at the conference. Full details of Appetite conference abstract guidelines can be found here - https://www.elsevier.com/journals/appetite/0195-6663/guide-for-authors (please scroll down to conference abstracts)

**The TOTAL WORD COUNT for the abstract must not exceed 300 words, this includes title through to end of the abstract – submissions over this word count will not be considered.

Please note that all abstracts for either the Student Bursaries or for the programme (posters/oral presentations) will be scored on the following 5 criteria:

  1. Contribution (is this paper new/original, rigorous and with impact?)
  2. Rationale (is the rationale clear and linked to literature in a clear way?)
  3. Methods (including whether the sample size is stated and justified, or seems adequate; if qualitative is sufficient detail given on the sample/saturation?)
  4. Results (are the results/findings clear?)
  5. Conclusion (is the conclusion adequate given the findings?)
