This year’s Early Career Researcher Event will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 11:00-17:15 (BST) at the University of Leeds, Michael Sadler Building.
The entire event will be held in-person and attendees are required to be physically present in Leeds.
Using a mixture of presentations by guest speakers, as well as group and panel discussions, the ECR afternoon will cover a variety of fundamental topics within academia, such as managing research projects and grants, the viva voce experience, and how to practise open science. We are very excited to be including 'The viva voce experience', in which a panel of esteemed researchers and recently defended doctoral students will discuss their experience and tips for a successful and stress-free viva voce.
Attendees will be welcome to join us for coffee and an introduction session from 11 am onwards, after which a complimentary lunch will be served (catering is able to take into account any dietary requirements/restrictions given advanced notice). After the afternoon sessions, there will also be a fun social gathering at the local Student bar to get to know each other and facilitate networking before the main BFDG event.
For more details, please see our official programme below.
Importantly, as this is an in-person session with limited room space, if the number of sign-ups exceeds our room capacity, then we will operate a lottery system to randomly allocate spaces. We aim to confirm successful registration with attendees on the 17th of February 2023.
If you have any questions regarding the event, feel free to contact one of the organisers at: bfdg.ecr@gmail.com
*Please note, signing up for this event does NOT cover registration for the main BFDG event.
Registration for the ECR Event has now closed.
