Virtual AAC Awards 2021

At Communication Matters we support and celebrate all forms of communication, the people who use communication aids, the professionals and families that support them and the companies that provide them.
As many of you know, at our annual conference we present two awards in memory of inspiring individuals, Jamie Munro and Alan Martin. These awards not only serve to remember two valued members of our community, but also highlight the achievements and influence of particular individuals through their work or artistic skills.

These awards not only serve to remember two valued members of our community, but also highlight the achievements and influence of particular individuals through their work or artistic skills.
We know that there are many more individuals, groups and companies who should also be celebrated for their contribution to the world of Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC).
Communication Matters is preparing to champion these achievements with the second ever AAC Awards to be held virtually on Friday 17th September 2021. Write the date in your diary or put it on your calendar and start counting down to what promises to be a really exciting occasion!
On Friday 26th March 2021 we should have been celebrating our second AAC Awards ceremony! Whilst we are sad that this event can’t happen due to the pandemic, we are very excited to announce that we will be able to hold a special compact AAC Awards event virtually at the end of the CM2021 Conference on the evening of Friday 17th September 2021.
As this is a biennial celebration, we are looking forward to welcoming you all to Leeds for the AAC Awards in 2023, which will tie in with the city’s celebrations of culture.
The 2021 virtual event will be open to anyone who has registered for the Communication Matters AAC Conference (more details & register here) - but of course, anyone can submit a nomination.
The AAC Awards categories can be found on the next page. Have a think about anyone who has demonstrated excellence in the AAC community over the last two (or more) years and who you might like to nominate. It could be an AAC user, a family member or carer, or a professional or team of professionals who have supported you or helped to achieve the unachievable!
We can’t wait to celebrate all the successes!
