Trond Riiber Knudsen, Founder and CEO, TRK Group AS

Trond Riiber Knudsen is Founder and CEO of TRK Group AS, an Oslo-based investment and advisory firm focused on active ownership and advisory within disruptive technologies, digital service transformation and new African growth markets. Prior to this, Trond was Senior Partner and member of the Leadership group in McKinsey & Company.

Trond has focused his client work around long-term partnerships with a number of globally leading companies within consumer goods, retail, media, telecom and technology, most with headquarters in the Nordics. Trond has been an active driving force for McKinsey’s growth in Africa, including his country of birth, Ethiopia.

Trond has a passionate commitment for helping people from different backgrounds, to reach their full potential. Based on this, Trond has for a number of years advised Kronprinsparets fond, focusing on mastery and methods to avoid social exclusion among young individuals.

Trond is a MSC/sivilingeniør from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School ,where he was a Fulbright Scholar.

Odd Gurvin, Project Manager, Norwegian Cognitive Center

Odd Gurvin has held various management and consulting positions in private sector since 1993 and working with strategy, technology, and innovation for various companies in different market segments.

Odd has also broad board experience for several tech focus start-up companies. Odds biggest advantage is having a high technical understanding in combination with management, business and market understanding.

Odd is project manager at Norwegian Cognitive Center, a industry initiative, supported by globally leading industry, and with strong academic institutions and public actors on the team.

Aiden Doherty PhD, Associate Professor, University of Oxford

Aiden is an Associate Professor at the University of Oxford and leads Health Data Research UK’s national implementation project on reproducible machine learning.

His research group at Oxford develops methods to analyse wearable sensor data in very large health studies to better understand the causes and consequences of disease.

For example, his team discovered the first genetic variants associated with machine-learned wearable sensor measurements of sleep and physical activity.

Petri Myllymäki, Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Department of Computer Science, University of Helsinki

Petri Myllymäki is a professor of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the Department of Computer Science of University of Helsinki, Finland, and the Director of the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology (HIIT), a joint research institute of University of Helsinki and Aalto University.

He is also the vice-Director of the Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence (FCAI), and the Director of the Helsinki Doctoral Education Network in ICT (HICT). Prof. Myllymäki is one of the co-founders of the Complex Systems Computation (CoSCo) research group, and he has over 30 years of experience in artificial intelligence research.

Markus Lingman, Chief Physician and Strategist, Region Halland

Markus Lingman was awarded the title “AI Swede of the year” in 2020. He has a background in healthcare as a senior manager, specialist physician and researcher, and currently works as a chief physician and chief strategy officer at Region Halland Hospital in Sweden.

Dr Lingman has a special interest in information driven healthcare, and the improvement of care provision on the system´s level by applying modern technology to the wealth of comprehensive data already existing in healthcare.

Oliver Barrowclough, Senior Research Scientist, SINTEF Digital

Oliver Barrowclough is a Senior Research Scientist at the Geometry group in SINTEF Digital. He has a Ph.D. in the field of geometric modelling from University of Oslo.

Today his focus is on combining novel AI techniques with geometric modelling. He is currently leading a work package on Enabling Technologies for Digital Twin in the H2020 project Change2Twin.

Klas H. Pettersen, CEO, NORA

Klas Pettersen is CEO of NORA – Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium, a collaboration between seven Norwegian universities and two research institutes within artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics. 

Originally educated as a civil engineer in physics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, where he studied quantum mechanics and the theory of relativity, he turned into neuroscience and received a PhD in computational neuroscience in 2007 from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU).  

The later years (2014-2019) he has applied physics, mathematics, informatics and techniques from artificial intelligence to understand the brain, as a research scientist at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Oslo. From 2008 to 2013 he worked as a postdoctoral researcher and a research scientist at NMBU, in the Group for Computational Biology and later also at the Center for Integrative Genetics.  

Klas has also worked as a Visiting Scholar at the University of California San Diego (2015), and as a consultant for Accenture. From 2019 he is the CEO of NORA.

Laura Ruotsalainen, Associate Professor, University of Helsinki

Laura Ruotsalainen is an Associate Professor of Spatiotemporal data-analysis for sustainability science at the department of Computer Science at the University of Helsinki. Her current research interests cover data analysis techniques, mainly computer vision and machine learning, for robust navigation and situational awareness benefitting the development of automated traffic and smart cities, for Global Navigation Satellite System interference mitigation as well as for utilization of spatiotemporal data for sustainability science.

Geraint Jones, Knowledge Transfer Associate, Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN)

Geraint is a Knowledge Transfer Associate for the Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN). The KTN is a UK-wide organisation funded by Innovate UK, that brings together businesses, academics, government agencies and research organisations to facilitate knowledge transfer and to build better links between science, creativity and business.

Geraint has extensive experience from both Industry and academia; most recently managing a Research England funded Knowledge Exchange consortium “Pitch-In” on behalf of the University of Sheffield, helping companies to identify and break down barriers to adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.

Rebecka Löthman Rydå, Investment Director, Industrifonden

Rebecka Löthman Rydå is an Investment Director at Industrifonden, an 800 MEUR fund in Sweden and she is responsible for investments in applied AI.

Rebecka’s investment interests range from transformative business models to deep tech/ML. Prior to joining Industrifonden, Rebecka held the position of investment manager at Zenith Group, a VC-fund focused on technology investments. Her previous experience also includes various positions at the investment fund Varenne Investment, such as investment manager and interim CEO, and at Ernst and Young Sweden.
