Northern Powerhouse Trade Mission Offshore Wind
North East USA
24th - 29th April 2022

Grant Funding
Eligible SMEs in the North of England may be eligible to receive financial support towards the cost of their flights and hotel accommodation. If you are a company based in the North East, North West or Yorkshire & Humber regions, you should contact your local DIT Adviser to discuss the availability of DIT grant funding before making your trade mission application.  If you do not know who your local DIT Adviser is, please use this link to connect with them https://www.great.gov.uk/contact/office-finder/

Grant support through the DIT Internationalisation Fund offers match-funded grants of between £1,000 and £9,000 (subject to eligibility and availability) to SMEs based in England. To secure a grant, you'll need to fund a proportion of your costs yourself. This varies according to where your business is based and could be either 40 or 50% of the total cost.  Please see https://www.great.gov.uk/campaigns/internationalisation-fund-for-english-businesses/ for more information.  So, for example, if your flights and hotels are going to cost £2,000, we may be able to contribute 40-50% towards this (after you have returned from the mission).

If, for whatever reason, you are not able to apply for this fund, a one-off DIT trade mission grant of £500 may be available.  Again, you need to discuss this with your local DIT Adviser before applying for the mission.

These grants cannot be combined and you need to use one or the other towards the cost of your flights and hotels. The grant cannot be used to part-pay for the mission registration fee or food and drink during the visit.

As stated, delegates will be responsible for booking their own flights and accommodation and this should only be done after your place on the mission is confirmed and appropriate grant application approved.
